We really needed a bathrooms upstairs, so decided to take a very large closet off our upstairs bedroom and convert it to a bathroom. Started out as a basic project, but then decided to build a shower instead of buy a prefab fiberglass or plastic unit. Took a long time but finally got r done. Wife's happy.
Looks great...I'm gonna be trying to build a shower very similar to yours in the near future. I may need to pick your brain for some info at some point!!
Nice work Fanatical1 . I remember you posting pics from some of your earlier progress, it really came out great. Something that starts out as a 2K project turns into 7k quickly. How well did your budget work out?
Thanks guys... No problem, I'm no expert, so your taking your chances with me. Dang it! Your right I'm not done yet....
I could have used your expertise on this project! I think I have just over 4,500 in materials. My big issue was plumbing. The sewer line needed to run down through an inside wall downstairs and then we pounded through the concrete slab to find the sewer line buried two feet under the slab. Cut the sewer line and put a saddle on it to connect the sanitary drain. We did all this inside of a 6" inside wall. I hired a contractor/plumber for that job.
Thanks, Home Depot for the tile and Lowes for the mirror. Both were reasonable. The knotty pine was milled by an amish sawmill close by. One of the benefits of Vinton county Ohio. The shower door was difficult. Didnt expect that to be one of the bigger issues, but it was.
You an my wife would really get along well... Your right of course, but my wife was on me for a while on this project. I'm still waiting for the "easy" job to come along.... Come over some time, I almost have everything done.....
Very nice. Let's see. Hocking Hills, Oh to my place is about 589.74 miles or only 9 hrs 17 mins ! But, I will give you a call when I have the money to do one of my bathrooms over. My wife would love to pay you to do that. I have already spent our money though. But, we will only need a small stove in ours!
No problem... I'm sure we can make a trade, you install one one of those Gasifier systems and you get a bathroom... We both win!
LOL. Well, I know it does not take long to spend money doing a bathroom. Now, what do I need to know to install a Gasifier system? LOL It's a good thing I found those two guys to install mine. That's all I will say.
Didn't notice that you were in Hocking Hills...I will be heading to Athens, OH in a couple of weeks, probably drive right by you. You say the glass door was difficult, did you buy that or have it made by someone?? If you purchased from a box store/internet, do you mind sharing where you got it...Thanks!
Doors like that one are usually custom made to fit the hole and are typically 3/8" tempered glass. You need your hole to be square and doubled up with 2x4's or 2x6s to support the weight. I couldn't find anything I liked at HD or Lowes etc... They all had a frame and I wanted frameless. Both Lowes and HD will custom order one, but they wanted about $1,000... I found a place in FL that was half that cost and they ship all over the US. Install was a little tricky too, as the door fits tight and it can chip really easy. The door swings in or out and self centers itself. http://www.gasparillaglass.com/home.html So do you have a son or daughter at OU?
