    When is one "too" far gone to salvage/true up etc.??? Pix are good for me.

    Won't say any more than that for fear of flame-age material!!!

    Unless the bar is a very expensive or rare vintage model, anything that requires more than a flat file to repair is too much for me. Lots of inexpensive bars available for firewood duty.

    I will run one forever. Bit usually a file is all thats needed. But if you use them a lot you can wear metal away. But cheap bars are readily available like MM said and work fine.

    If you're that concerned about it, it's probably time to replace it.

    A bar is no longer repairable when the groove is so shallow that the chain does not ride on the rails. Or it's bent.

    Just about everything else can be repaired.
