I also used a 4" to 3" reducer, as Larry said, on my leaf blower (you actually hook it up to the vacuum side.. So it has to be a leaf vac/blower).

The vacuum end was cut until the 4" end of the reducer fit well. Then used some Liquid nails to seal/secure it in the vac tube.

This works well for all installs. The 3" fits inside my 4" vent well and then I seal it with tape. It also fits over a 3" vent (right on the end) and then seal with tape.

I have cleaned several friends and family members with this beast over the last 3 years.

I said mine was Toro, but that was mine was Troy . Lowes has other for about 40 bucks. Just find an adapter to fit the vac end before you cash out.

Ok fellas I got all the leaks fixed except one that I finally located... The previouse owner had a stove adapter or connector ( not sure what it's called ) attached to the stove with RTV sealant. It leaks like a siv through the collar and I'm not even sure it right. I have high temp siliconed the snot balls out of it and just can't get it to stop leaking.

What is the connector their called an adapter or connector? Do I need to get a new one or take that one off and RTV the snot out of it.

    What's your suggestions?

Appliance adapter. Did you seal it with rtv before you slid it onto the stove outlet?

    I think they're called a stove adapter.

Are you using the one that came with the stove? If so, do you know if it is the same brand as the rest of the venting? You don't want to mix and match brands as they don't usually seal properly.

I think you'd need what is in the below link. Walmart was the first one that popped up in Google with a decent picture. 3VP-PC would be the part number for the Selkirk VP venting.

Edit - just saw your post that said it came attached to the stove.

I picked up mine at Menards. My furnace goes from 3" to 4", so I needed one of those when I did my install. I don't think the price was much different than the online prices.

Make sure to clean the stoves exhaust snout really good, and apply a healthy bead on the snout, then slowly slide (and I twist it clockwise) it on. Then let it cure for 24 hrs.

If it was on there already, I suspect it could have been leaking the entire time the previous owner had it (may be why he used it so little?)

Did you attempt using high temp aluminum tape?

I think he did 3 months full time heat before an upgrade. Feb - April. I'm pretty sure he didn't know much about what he was doing. It was a pretty bad mess inside the blower housing and the first cleaning on the auger was pretty bad. Not sure what he was burning but it wasn't pretty.

No I have used it in the past with hit and miss results ( regardless ) I've got a roll somewhere I have been looking everywhere trying to find it lol. I won't buy another till I know for a fact that it's gone. My first try will be RTV because I've got a ton of that and I'd really rather remove it first just to be sure it's done right before it gets tape. The other leaks where easy to fix with clear high heat silicone from menards.

We have been running the pellet stove all day and it's maintained 71.5 with the dial set at about 1/4 of the way turned or Medium Low I suppose I could say. It is actually pretty quiet aside from the tink tink noise lol. I do notice it doesn't penetrate like the wood stove does however it gets plenty warm. Also instead of shutting of it slows down drastically when the room reaches temp. It keeps a small hot bed of pellet ash and when it needs to crank up instead of using the igniter it utilizes the small ash pile to reignite. It's really pretty impressive how it's running.

Good deal. Glad it's working out for you. My favorite part about pellet stoves is the convenience. Dump in a bag, forget about it for a while. That is especially handy when I come down with a cold/flu/etc. I used to hate loading the wood stove when I was sick. I can usually muster up enough energy to dump a bag in the hopper, but would more often than not just switch on the oil furnace when I wasn't feeling well. Now I just crank the stat on the pellet burner like I would for the oil burner.

I was running my 6041 when we had the ice storm last December and the house was on generator power. The 'tink tink tink' noise kept me awake for a while (we were all camped out in the living room where it was warmer).

    Congrats on the install.

When the room gets to temp, that stove shuts down. There may still be coals left, but it will always use the ignitor to restart. That is probably what you are seeing. The stove is going into shut down, but the room temp drops so fast, that the stove does not have the proper time to shut down completely, before the call for heat comes back.

That's the one thing I read in the manual that I wasn't very fond of, for that particular stove. Only having a 3° swing and that close to the stove (the stove is the tstat) means it will cycle a LOT. It's better to run on a constant setting that is lower, than a higher setting and cycle

I would try putting it on low (on the low setting or high setting, the stove runs continuously. It will not go into shut down). See if that is enough heat. I doubt the flame will be much smaller. A constant heat is better than cyclical heat. Plus, you will use the same amount of pellets (less pellets constantly, is about equal to more pellet on a higher setting, but shutting on and off. On restart, the auger runs constant for one minute. So you use a lot of pellets on every restart).

Glad you like it Pete. I love my Pellet stoves. The wood stove is nice, but as 343amc stated above, it's to much easier to add a bag or 2 of pellets and crank the stat and relax. No bugs, no ash (because you don't have to open the door and stir coals/ashes), and babysitting. :)

    Pellet stoves rock! ! :dex:

Glad to hear your liking the stove Pete. You're totally correct when you said it's not the same as wood heat. I always enjoy the woodstove when at hunting camp. But the convenience like Dex said has it all over a wood stove.
