Not impressive for many here; but I just IMHO got 2 years ahead on wood. Finished CSSing this morning some ash, box elder and mulberry for 15-16. I'll take a picture when I get on the roof tomorrow to clean the leaves out of my gutters. Twas a slow summer for scrounging around here. However; I've CSS probably close to 2 full cords of wood in the last 2 months. I know again..........not a biggie for many of you...............but when you are self employed.................not in the wood business................there are other priorities!!!!
Great job, don't worry about doing it all at once. If you tackle it a little bit at a time it all adds up and you will be set!
Well you're in twice as good of shape as 95% of folks. Sounds like a good mix. Box elder early in the season, and ash and mulberry as it gets colder. A lot of guys here like oak, but if you don't have a lot of time to get it dry, I think ash is great. I'm using it for my 'dead of winter' stuff this year.
Good work man, it's always inspiring to hear about folks getting ahead. I'm not as far ahead as you, but every time I log in here it inspires me to keep at it.
Yeah, this'll be my 3rd year heating with wood. Only have been 1+ year ahead the previous burning seasons. Got 2 trees next door promised to me once his "tree-monkey" bud gets here to drop the limbs over his house. If it were "MY" house I'd do it myself..............but seeing I'm not a licensed and bonded tree service....................
We were all there when starting out...seemed a daunting task when I look back on it. Once I got hydros things became much easier and then it was motivating myself to get out and cut, which is now even more fun with a saw that laughs at big red oak logs, and a little pup saw that makes clearing branches a breeze. I still beat myself down getting wood on my days off - but what the hell am I going to do at work?
You are way ahead of most, At least in the top 5% of wood burners. Some still don't have this seasons wood yet 2 years ahead is a good feeling ! Eh? Good job ! Pictures soon ?
One thing about this forum of wood burners... calm egos. The guys who work constantly on gathering wood are quite an inspiration to me... but they never crow about any of it. No need. Just havin fun feeling good about what they're doing. Good job MW... getting ahead. Like others have said... you're ahead of 95% of all firewood burners now...
Proof!!!! 1 row of 12 pallets double stacked and 1 row of 14 pallets double stacked with chunks, uglies and cookies between the double rows on the pallets. Not as PRETTY as some of y'alls!!!
Whoa. Wait a minute here my good man. What do you mean it is not impressive?! There was a lot of work going into those stacks and the stacks also look very good. You can be very proud and believe that many of us on this forum are proud of you. Just think, you are 2/3 of the way towards being super! The three year plan is the winner for sure but you have to get to 2 years first. Bingo! You are there.
Nice work whitey! I am moving the second half of this years BTUs under the porch this week. Then I will begin the cutting of 15/16 BTUs. And, on orders of Backwoods Savage, I am going to spend extra time this next 7 months also getting 17/18. Now, I told him it would be much easier if he just "lent" me his 18/19 stash and then I would be out two years much faster. Right? He didn't agree to it though.
