We did a huge white oak last weekend, the main trunk tree was around 4-4.5' diameter at waist level, hollow thirty feet up, with a huge crack along the backside as well.

Had to get in the stump for a pic to show the size of it!

We got two heaping trailer loads out of the job....I took one, my buddy took the other....

I split the stump and some of the hollow pieces up earlier this week, got around to splitting the upper trunk pieces yesterday morning....these rounds are from almost 40' up the trunk!! Still around 35-40" diameter!!

And a pic of the wood all processed and heaped up in my "overrun" pile.....around 3-4 cord in this pile, almost 90% oak with a little black birch and sugar maple in there as well. Now I gotta stack it all!!

White oak is awesome firewood. Man, that must have been a beast to cut, move and split all that.

Now I have to get after a pile of hickory that has been sitting since last January. I will be using that mainly for cooking/smoking purposes .......that stuff will meet the splitter throughout the week.....

And various stacking sessions in between....I'd like to have most of the overrun pile stacked in two weeks.....

White oak one of the best wood there is, + it's gotta be the one with the best odor.
Stuff smells great when processing & when you walk by the stack . :)

    Jealousy from here
