then I'd have to cut a trail down into a draw and load them and pull them uphill(steep hill) - easiest to drag them to flat ground and load them. Those big oak rounds will be split there and moved to the stack, no sense in handling those heavy ones more than once
I've been hauling some hickory too. But from the front yard to the back yard. You've got it a little harder than I do Moving wood uphill is no fun. You'll forget all about it though in a few years when it's in the stove
Man you earn those BTUs. Great score & great pictures. Hickory & white oak are tops in the wood varieties. Snatch block idea a good one. The Higher up it is, the better it lifts the front of the log & skids better. Fun to come up a mechanical advantage & make things a but easier

I was glad it lifted just enough to clear that old half rotten gum log. A 40" section probably weighs around 300-350lbs, the quad barely even felt it though
