Neighbor had a bunch of trees cut so he could regain satellite signal. Couple medium sized hickories and a medium and pretty large red oak came down back in the spring. Cooler weather now but its been a chore getting the wood up the hill.
Hickory on the left Red Oak on the right, bunch of poles in the middle mixture of white oak & hickory
IMG_0597.JPG The hickory was laying down this bank IMG_0598.JPG
This is the big red oak - ended up bucking to 40" and skidding them with a snatch block tied into the top of the small beech above - worked pretty well
    IMG_0599.JPG
    Load of hickory IMG_0601.JPG
Hickory limbs - these would be worth some money on ebay
    IMG_0602.JPG
One small white oak in the mix IMG_0603.JPG
The medium red oak - bucked and carried up the hill - then I got smarter with the snatch block IMG_0604.JPG
First pile of rounds&logs S/S. RO on the left Hickory on the right. There is more hickory that should finish that stack out - plenty of red oak to come IMG_0605.JPG

Skidded most of the big red oak - these should be some high yielding rounds IMG_0608.JPG IMG_0609.JPG

Top-shelf score. Good middle of winter fuel. It's cool that you found a way to defeat the uphill part of gathering. Good catch!

They're pretty tuckered out as it is - finally got Samson to stop trying to sniff under the big red oak while I was bucking it:rolleyes:.
He got tired of the 30' trips on the quad while I was snatching the oak up the hill and found a chipmunk burrow to dig out

You get any pics of your snatch block setup? I gotta get me something like that. That's gotta be the kind of thing where you don't know how you got along without it, once you have it.

hard to get action shots cutting solo - it's setup in the small beech, on a nylon strap w/shackle. Probably going to move it to the dogwood on the right as that will be a better angle for the remaining tops
I'll see if I can get some pics tomorrow morning - provided my back is ready to go at it agian;)

Moving wood uphill is no fun. It is infinitely easier to send rounds downhill with the aid of gravity.
