I was able to work under a flash light and install my Sunoro coolant temp gauge. And the side boards are basically done. :) !!!!!!!!!!

Took the truck for a drive and with no thermostat it ran about 210 on the gauge, and the block measures about 195 with the IR gun, so it's close enough. But I found something interesting. The lower radiator hose seems to be full of something. I can crush it with my hand. Guess I'll pull it off tomorrow to see what could be in there. That explains my overheating issue.

Usually the crunching in the hose is someone put coolant sealer in the system. It adheres to the hoses and thus the crunching when you squeeze it. Do you have heat ? Sometimes heater core gets clogged by sealer too.

No heat in the cab. Someone bypassed the heater core. But....I think a bad radiator cap is my problem. Never for over 150 today makin three trips hauling wood. Still out of time, but I have a friend who is a retired Ford mechanic and he's going to help me set the time tomorrow evening...I'm going to pick his brain clean! But, the truck performed great. We hauled three loads and this was the last one that wasn't stacked. Love this old thing!

Thanks fellas. I'm very excited to get the timing tweaked tomorrow. Should be good from there. Like HD was saying, odds and ends will come. For now, she'll haul wood.

Timing is set. It was so bad that someone had actually repositioned the spark wires on the cap. We reset the distributor and got it dialed in. It's not even the same freaking truck. I am beyond thrilled!!!

Kind of miss not spending every free second working on my truck LOL. But I did slap on some flow master 40s the other day. Old girl sounds gooooood. I also delivered my first load of wood to a customer with it. Measurements say it will hold just shy of a cord.

Wow, great truck! Nice job restoring it too. Love the wood work. Before long it will be to nice to use!
Don't forget to check the brakes. I had an "issue" years ago driving a delivery truck for a lumber yard.:sherlock:
