This tree is a little over 12" DBH ,I guess The third pic is a branch on the tree , no leaves left on the lower part of the tree so the last 2 pics are of leaves from a different tree 50ft away that looks the same. There are some vines in those 2 pics also
Yes it is in my yard right by the fence , part of the fence is in the tree ,I need to cut it down. Just wanted to know what it is, I will dry it and burn it no matter what it is
I think I'd roll with that, similar trunks, nice and straight. Not sure I could tell the leaves apart.
Populus is just the genus under which all the different aspens/poplars and cottonwoods are classified. I think the only difference between a "poplar" and an "aspen" is the name assigned to the species
Out west, it is Aspen. Around here it is popple . There are different kinks and colors but the leaf is mostly the same. I've seen huge popple trees, and some that don't get bigger than 6 to 8 inches in diameter. Light to dark grey bark.
look close at the leaf pics, the radial leaf veins at base of leaf in pics vs. pic of aspen leaf....appears to me aspen has central vein and two others emanating from basal area, linden has 4, or 5. for sure it ain't oak
