You been busy papadave! We gotta get some of the pile of rounds you must have going! Helping out the family... I'd take that kind of payment any day!
Was still a little cool at about 11:15 when I started. Saw my breath. Shawn.....ask, and ye shall receive. Stuff on the right is the wet stuff. @nd pic..the rounds in the foregrounds are Maple.
Sorry, don't know exactly just yet. Approximately 14.5 stacked (includes the shed), and maybe another cord in a pile (probably not that much in the above pile). Must....keep.....cutting......firewood Forgot to mention, I got a little more muddin' done. Still need to do the old stove room. SIL's been doing some sanding too. This is taking way too long, but at least it's getting me over there and into the woods more often.
Went at it again today. The big Oak was calling my name, so I took the big trailer over loaded with the tractor and splitter. Took 'em out in the woods and got a few rounds. Still about 11 rounds left in the main larger part of the trunk (24"dbh...pic on the right). No muddin' today....ran out of tape. SIL is going to HD early in the morning for more, so I'll go do some tomorrow. Then, I can get in the woods again. I forgot the gas can, so I only split the rounds enough to be able to handle 'em.
Love it. You haven't stopped since u got back into it. Keep up the hard work. Looks great.. Your a beast...
Better be careful, you burn too much that oak and your stove might melt. Is that the sun shining down through the trees there? Dark and dreary all day here
2 rows like this one, and another behind the front seats about 1/2 as big. These are 4' wide and a little over 2' high. This is getting into the smaller end. Somewhere around 10" diameter. Might be able to finish this tree in another 3 loads.
HDR, yep, beautiful day here, even though it was a little chilly. Took a walk looking for more trees to take and just enjoyed the day. Was only there for about 2.5 hours.
Did some muddin in the entry today. Took me about 2.5 hours to mud the inside corners at the ceiling and down 2 walls. Got done with that and went to the woods for some more dead Oak. Found one down and one standing....so I cut it down. Made a new path back to where these 2 trees were, so I can get more back there. Got within about 100' of the back property line. There will be more of that going on either next trip or next year. Only about 1/2 load today.
Looks good as always. What's the biggest size you cuts logs ? We got tons of rain and winds for the last 2 days. Hope I can get some stuff this weekend.
Agreed......this is dead standing/down Oak that is all over the place at my SIL's. Once I feel comfy with how much Oak I have (not sure that's gonna' happen soon), there's a ton of Maple I plan to get as well. That may not happen until next year, which means I can just keep cutting Oak. Still working on that big Oak at about 24" DBH, but most are no more than about 9-12". Perfect size to handle, and if dead, they dry quicker.
Good deal Dave, glad to see I'm not the only one that hauls wood in a Cherokee Recent lunch break, CL, black walnut scrounge. Action shot!
