After some modifications and tweaks we've made to the unit, it has proven to be an amazing heater ......they are claimed to be in the 65% efficiency range, and I believe it. One of the things I love about the unit is it comes with an optional wrought iron surround (which we have on our unit), gives the stove a authentic, antique look.

Like most modern EPA stoves, she really likes the wood to be properly seasoned and if it isn't, you will quickly find out. The glass will blacken quickly. But burn seasoned wood and she'll stay clean and pretty!

We moved the furniture out of the family room on Saturday to take some family photos by the fireplace, got a chance to snap a couple good pics of the fireplace. As many of you already know, I built the entire chase and fireplace myself, using real stone from the mountains around our house. The mantel is a 300lb hand hewn pine beam from a barn I tore down that was built around 1867, the flooring is all reclaimed floor from an 1840's farmhouse in eastern PA, fireplace is around 9' wide and 12' tall.....

all the utensils/pots and pans/fireplace tools are authentic antiques dating from the mid 1700's to the mid 1800's. It took me almost half a decade to acquire those pieces, most of them from central PA and matching sets....

just thought I'd share a recent pic of the unit, I'll add the entire build to the I thread once it gets going from start to finish.....

Looks great, totally unique. Must be very satisfying to sit in that room by the fire. How are the Napoleon fans, fairly quiet?

the fan for the stove is mounted remotely, and it's quiet to begin with, so you can barely tell it's on other than feeling the air coming out of the top vents.....

Thanks for the compliments, we were after an old colonial look, with the efficiency of a modern stove......I think we nailed it pretty good......

Now that is an awesome fireplace and after spending several years around construction, I recognize craftsmanship when I see it. I am also impressed with the use of real rock when so many now use fake stone and also the hand hewn beam for a mantel is a very nice addition along with the antique utensils that you have collected.
I look forward to the entire story on this. .............Scotty, you are a multi-talented man...... thanks for sharing this with us.
