So what's the lightest Stihl saw I can put a 25 inch bar on?

Doesn't have to be the strongest and fastest, I just want a 25" bar on a 2nd backup saw I can use from time to time when I have a bigger round to cut.

    Ms361 maybe?

Are you looking new or used?

Current new market would be the 362CM. PHO dry weight shows to be 12.8 lbs.

I think there is a guy on eBay selling 025's with 25" bars. Your results may vary...

441 would be the smallest I would go for that size bar. If I only wanted one saw, and used a smaller bar most of the time, I might consider the 362.

Not a Stihl, but a guy not far from me recently did some milling (!) with a 24" bar on a 455 rancher. I guess it's a question of how patient you are and how hard you're willing to be on the saw.

FWIW I'd go for a 362 or similar, for occasional use of a 24" bar. 70cc would be nice but not mandatory.

Might be able to catch a 044/440 for the same price range if shiny and new looking isn't needed.

A bit more info; I have an Echo cs400 which works fine for me 90% of the time. I don't have a backup saw, and need one. A few times I wished I had a larger bar, so since I'm getting a "backup" 2nd saw, why not make sure it can handle a 25" bar, right?

Then add in I've never had a Stihl, and would love to try one. But I want something that's somewhat comfy, not a 40lb anchor big boy. ;)

Stihl 044 is about as small of a saw as I would go for a 25" bar, in my opinion anyway. They really aren't heavy either, it may make whatever you have now a backup saw haha.

I can't disagree with that. I only recently got to try an 044, and it does hit a sweet spot. Looks like it's published weight is the same as the 362, too.

I have one of the older 10mm saws, and it is one of my all time favorites. She has some hours on her for sure... A couple of the guys ran it at the GTG, just a sweetheart of a saw. Not very heavy at all either!

044 and 064 are probably the 2 best stihl ever built

The 362 and the 361 are both 59cc's, yet the 361 is 12.3 vs 13.0 lbs? What's the difference between these two?
