done highjacking other threads. my 066 is DOA for the time being. currently borrowing a farm boss. other saw is an old homelite xl. looking at 562xp autotune with 20" techlite, $698.50 OTD. came across this thread: http://www.forestryforum.com/board/index.php/topic,67491.0.html autotune makes me hesitant just a little bit. please discuss and share experiences/opinions. thanks!
I have no experience with the 562 AT or any other AT saw. What I do know is what I have read, which is also posted in the thread you referenced. The problems (if you have any) can be solved by reflashing the computer or replacing the AT unit under warranty---I think. If I were you, I would contact TLandrum (a member here) for his opinion. He has extensive experience with autotunes. Maybe he will reply to your thread. There are others here too that can help.
I would ask yourself, how good is your Husky dealer? If they are competent, have the tools to diagnose and update AT saws, then there is little reason to worry. I have run one of Terry's ported 562XPs. Yee Haw!
I agree, if I had the money and wanted an AT I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. The previous problems have either been addressed on the newer models; or, a competent dealer can fix the previous problems. Yes, Terry builds very nice saws. I have not got my hands on one of his 562s yet. I know somebody who has one though, and will be cutting with him in December. Maybe I will run it at that time.
there is absolutely nothing to fear in buying the autotune saws. if you want a ready to rock right out of the truck every time saw then autotune is the bomb. if you want to run the smoothest saw in production today go for a 2260 jonsered or a 562xp Husqvarna. the price that you have quoted in your post is high in my opinion.
Looking at the 562xp also, here it's best 60cc out there trying to kill my 460 rancher so I can justify the purchase
Top saw on my list. Be tough to choose between the Husqy 562 & the Stihl 362. If I were pressed hard to choose. I'd get both LOL
I've run both... Stock for stock, there's no comparison... 562 is the clear winner... Weight, power, balance, smooth... But that's not to say the 362 isn't a sturdy machine... Just outclassed in its class is all...
Yikes!!! Good luck on that quest... Those 460's are like the Stihl farm boss saws... Pretty damm hard to kill.. You may have to just break down and own both!!!
I agree with Hedge. There is no comparison. The 562xp is the winner every day. By a Loooooooong Shot!!
Everybody listen up. Cause I don't do this often...... I ..... Like ....... The ...... Husky ...... Better......... Hedgerow absolutely right, out of the box, the 562XP is bar and chain ahead of the MS362. Not to mention the 562XP takes the cake in the looks department too. The way I see it, if your gonna build a rip-roaring chainsaw, why not do it with some style?
so, difference between 2260 and 562xp other than color? never really considered jonsered as the nearest dealer is over and hour away from me, in the dirsection opposite i travel for everything else in my life... although, i would love to visit tennessee.....
don't kill the 460 just to upgrade. sell it and use the funds toward the new purchase. also I learned a long time ago that I didn't give a flip about how close a dealer was to me. id run what I want to run and not worry about a break down. its very unlikely to ever need a warranty issue taken care of. when I was logging I bought a new saw every 6 months ,in that 6 months I probably cut at minimum of a half a million board ft with the (ported) saw. never needed any warranty work. in my life time I have bought 10's of thousands of dollars worth of saws and can say that I have had less than a dozen need warranty work. myself I shopped for the best price on the saw I wanted and never worried about being able to run down to the dealer. i will say this though, if my local dealer had sold his stuff as low priced as i do ,and took care of his customers, he would still be here and i wouldn't be a dealer. buy local if your dealer has the best price and service but don't be afraid to look else where is all im telling you.
I love my 562xp. Run it a few times through some oak and it is a dream. I think the price is spot on. I paid right around 710 for mine. Just do it and have fun. Now all I need is to find more wood to cut.
