Burned through a bag last night to confirm some disappointing earlier results last monday. I burned Okie Platinum last season but never had hard clinkers. My dealer didn't carry the Plats this year so I grabbed the gold. I have experaince with Geneva and they would make turd looking clinkers once in a while but touch them and they fell apart. I cannot crush some of the gold clinkers with my fingers, hard like rock, others take a bit of force to crush them. Also they coat the fire box black. For this go, the stove was run wide open. Stove temp 7 , feed rate 4, and blower on high. Two fans in the bay window so I didn't cook the pooch. Before burn. After burn. Gold Nuggets!
I have not seen anything like that since my Infernos in year one. Soon I will have 25 bags of Golds or Platinums. Hoping they don't look like that....
I bet Ole Salty wouldn't agree! These are the Southern Yellow pine from down south(GA.)! I didn't expect the quality of the BC stuff. But this isn't what I'd expect either!! Eek! I emailed Doug a while ago and asked if he had hear much from the dealers on these. Never replied!! I had a bud looking for fuel and he asked me about them. Kind of glad I said not to until we hear something on them. I steered him to what you are burning! I didn't notice that, But that don't look good! Wonder if its sticky? FYI, Gonna move this to the pellet bag.
That is wide open. The XXV is REALLY well drafted. 12 foot vertical through the roof. Mostly burned pellets will fly out of the burn box sometimes.
