I just wanted to make a current "welcome" post to the latest members here. I recognize a LOT of you and I'm glad to see you all again.....Also glad to see new faces as well! As we've said from day one, this place is about YOU all, and the friendships/relationships we have in regards to life, liberty, and the pursuit of firewood!!

Everyone running this forum is a volunteer, putting a lot of time and heart into keeping this a clean, family-oriented place where everyone can sit back and enjoy the comraderie. We need everyone's help in keeping the politics, negativity towards others, and hard feelings out, and keep the positive energy IN. This place, so far, has FAR exceeded those expectations, because of the class and selflessness of the membership here.

Shaping up to be a great heating season! :campfire:

I am Mike. I have been at AS and more recently at SH. I am married to a hot, wonderful wife with 4 kids soon to be 5 around thanksgiving. We live between Chicago and Wisconsin. I do many trades for work but my favorites are tree service and snowplowing. I cut and sell firewood but do not burn for heat. One day, when I move north, past the cheese curtain, I will be a real fire wood hoarder and burn wood. Although there was once a time I would jump at any saw including mini macs.....I am mostly into ported work saws now. Looking forward to being around here more!

    Mike

Yes you do! And first question is........How do you compare the 362 to 562 to the 036 pro?

I do have love for the cheeseland. One day, when I move north past the cheese curtain means I am moving there some day and becoming your FIB yuppie neighbor o_O

I just got the 362 back, but what I've ran of it it's pretty impressive. I need to do another run of my 60cc saws. I love my 036 and 034 and they are my go to saws, unless I need to get into the 70cc class. The 562 does pretty darn to. I'll try to look up my videos later, to see the times. But I don't think there would be much time difference in them. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Many screws loose in the places it don't matter BUT grade 5 or 8 nuts and bolts where needed.... some of them coated with blue locktite. Thanks for the welcome.

Oh and the reason I originally came to FHC was to do research on a Franklin stove. It was being given away and was wondering how good or efficient it was. After reading what I did, I opted not to take it.

And this is a big Hello from The Netherlands. I live in an urban area and was surprised to find that I am not alone in my interest in everything related to FireWood. I spent a month checking the forum and found many familiar habits, like going outside to see the smoke come from the chimney, enjoing to check moisture contents and placing a stack right in front of the window.

Having said that, I live in a crowded area, most trees are planted and I have a small house and tiny garden. My source of tree(parts) are the gardens of neighbours or good storms. I get a bit jealous if I see all these big stacks and people that have their own bit of forrest. Must be nice to take down your own trees and haul them in.

My toys are an electric chainsaw, a Fiskars axe, a splitting axe and a hand-driven pneumatic splitter for the difficult rounds.
