This the stuff to use for winter time bar oil ?
Wife thought i was nuts asking her to get a gallon.
$10 here, still cheaper than the on-sale bar oil.

Seems to be pretty light viscosity @ room temp.

Yep. A few people use it with good results.

Does Alaska have a TSC? Or is that just the lower 48? They have bar oil for $7 a gal and Menards had it for $5 a gallon not to long ago.

    No,tsc or menards

    WOW
At $5, I'd get 10 + jugs. Cost doing nothing but going up .

Found Poulan for $14/gallon , cheapest so far.

    Thanks

Just got a gallon of Poulan at walmart for $9.20. Cheaper than the Canola stuff.
That should get me through this cutting season.
Think Ill use it, made for saws & cheaper. :)

I had been using Mobil 1330, used up the last of the 5 gallon jugs I had.
Last one must have had some water & dirt in it, caused some oiler problems last time out.
Drained it out of a 55 gallon drum years ago.

This poulan stuff looks thicker & tackier, not sure how it'll work in the cold.
I know it's warm when the saw is running a while but might be syrupy on startup at my temps.
I'll just let the saw warm up a bit more with the brake on.

Will definitely be watching for sales.

Right where I want to be.
    I've used the Canola.....for a minute.
It started getting funky in the bottle. Worked it through the saw and went back to B&C oil.
The way I've been going through B&C oil recently, I should probably get a quart or 2 of the Canola. Gallon at a time is too much most of the year.
    YMMV

The Poulan goes on sale in the summer for $7 or so. Dave if you need a gal or three I have probably 50 gallons.

I add a cup or two of diesel in it to thin it out.

    Diesel makes sense.
Need to stop & buy 35¢ worth of diesel :)

    Thanks for the offer.
Got enough to get through this year, If you see it on sale, let me know. I'll do same.
I bought one jug at AIH when I went to get some gloves., $14. Arrrg. :headbang:

You will need to thin the poulan in the winter. Down here in the south it gets pretty thick in our winter. Not so thick you can't pour it but war thicker than when its 75-90F!! Id do as nate says and put a cup of diesel or kero in it.

Unless I get oil on sale I always buy that jug at walmart of the tech brand walmart sells. They have both and there very similar in price

The menards stuff is pretty tacky!!! And is no longer on sale for 5 bucks, I think it is 7 bucks now. Vegetable oil makes a mess.

Dang $7 is still a heck of a deal. I dont think id use canolas. Seems like they would be very sticky and turn rancid and mildew on your saw?

I use the Canola a lot, I like it. Especiallly in the winter, I remember last winter cutting up a big locust I switched from regular bar oil to canola in the middle of the tree and it made a big difference in the cut. It oiled much better and cut a lot faster. I usually use it all year round.

Another good winter mix is 75-25 bar oil to auto trans fluid. Thins, but provides lubricity. A C
