Went to cut wood with my cutting busy today. First up was a forked dead red oak. We cut it at the forks about 5 foot up and each fork was maybe 50ft and 18" at the butt. Then next was part of about an 18" water oak to fill my trailer full. Filled my truck and trailer and his long bed mazda. The last pic is the pile of rounds at his place to split. Not sure if they show up but between the trees are some stacked rounds but that was a previous haul.
Was hotter than would have been nice at 84. But not the hottest I have cut in by far. Also would of been nicer if I did not have to dead lift and haul the last15 or so rounds 50 feet
I hate that. Scrounging can be fun and all, but that's one thing I don't miss. Hauling big ole rounds more than a couple feet is no fun. Log loads in the front yard are gooder
In the same place where we cut enough to fill the trailer is the last half of the water oak. About an 8" poison ivy covered down elm and another red oak about the same size as the larger ones standing. I can cut it into the road though
That a nice load! You have any log tongs? Couple of those can make handling those big rounds SO much easier. No more awkward grips - you can literally put handles on the suckers and walk em out of there. Had to walk all the BL I got this weekend a good 50' myself. The stand was a little too tight to back my trailer into, and I didn't want to cut any of the young trees down just to get it back there. They might have been 'sacrificed' if I didn't have the tongs though!
I have seen those things they looked pretty cool!! I may get some. We would of put im in a wheel barrow but there was a tip up mound and some holes a bit uphill and a small drainage ditch to cross otherwise I would of used the wheelbarrow on the trailer. If I did not have the mostly loaded trailer I would of cut the elm and drove down the drainage area/turnout the tree was across. It was rutted up but dry. Would of been no trouble for the k10 esp with the weight in the back for traction.
Dropped by his house after work. He already had the wood we cut split! What a friend. All I had to do is load the splits into my truck with his help Have the ranger packed. No voids anywhere. Even under the toolbox is stacked!!
