Love it Dave! I sold two little sail boats last summer, a J24 and a Tanzer 22. I just didn't have time for 'em, and I make my living on boats so I wasn't inclined to fix up my own at the end of the day. I will have another someday though, I've been sailing since I was in my mom's belly and grew up a fleet kid, loaned out to crew on whatever boat was short handed. I was a tiny little guy who knew how to sail, so a lot of the competitive guys would fight over me on tuesday night races when the winds were light. Here's one for you though... I did a delivery last spring from here in the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Juneau Alaska. Left Friday morning and arrived Saturday night! Clocked 49 knots over ground through Seymour Narrows. You don't wanna know the fuel bill! Yeah, that's 4 300hp V6 outboards!
That old girl above is a C&C 35 MK1, 1973 hull# 174/200. You obvisely been around sailboats, she has many, many miles under her keel. Someday we'll talk/PM and I'll tell you more about her.

Piney, beautiful boat! Dave, that's a great boat, I've been a huge C&C fan since I was a boy and we cruised with friends on one regularly. There is a beauty C&C on Seattle Craigslist right now that has me dreaming. Here's 16 year old me drinking beer at the helm of (I think) the C&C mentioned above. Photo by mom. And here's little video of an adventure I had a few years ago. "Free Boat!" on Craigslist, and I was crazy enough to go get it. It was across both the Strait of Georgia and the Strait of Juan de Fuca from home. I had a friend fly me up in his float plane and I brought a 4 horse Evinrude with me. I got on the boat, strapped on the motor, and headed out across those waters. The motor promptly died, and I spent the next two days sailing home at 4 knots. I made it, but when I got home and hauled it I found out the retractable centerboard was long gone and in it's place was a walrus sized ball of mussels and kelp. Ha, what a dummy! Here I am a few hours in too dumb to be scared....
I can neither confirm nor deny how many beers were consumed on that boat this year. You sit in back faced forward and foot steer. They were even thoughtful enough to mold a beer holder into the seat between your legs. The thing I like most though is sailing it onto the beach and pulling it up onto the lawn with the truck...didn't even bother with a dock this year.
My winter project Bought it used, Boats are close to airplanes, a black hole to throw money into. Replaced jet foot & cone water pump Pulled floor boards, cleaned & found some cracked welds. Cracked welds fixed, got boat back today. My first jet drive, a learning curve for operation & maintenance. But I can haul the atv in it, it & the atv opens up some remote areas to moose hunt.
I have never seen a jet drive on an outboard, that would make a "great" shallow water boat for crabbing around here! Best of luck with it!
Yep plenty of jet drive outboards. That water pump is terrible, there hardly any vanes left and the cup!!! Man there were sucking some sand through that one! I pulled the flywheel on my Johnson 150 to out a regulator in this summer and finally replaced the water pump. Pump was decent considering the years it was in, but very few hours on it though. Its on a 17 ft javalin fish/ski. I also ha a cobia sun skiff 16ft CC with a 60 HP Johnson. And about 3 yrs ago sold my tiny 15 ft boat with a 1970ish rude on it. I like the older omc motors they were solid performers and easy to work on. I have gotten pretty goo. On them and diagnosing them.
Pic's of my rocket. 2012 Stratos 285 proXL bought new last spring(leftover deal). We call her "flash". 60+ with full tourney gear and handles like a dream. These pic's are the day we brought it home. We have since put a few more options on it. Lowrance Hds5(hds 7 would not fit) in the helm and upgraded the trolling motor with a Minn kota Fortrex 80 with lift assist. Power pedestals for and aft. Looking to add a Down scan FF in the bow this spring.
Forgot to mention that the old bloopers were gas hogs! My 1991 GT v6 150hp will drink the fuel when your moving.
The new E-tec's are fuel sippers . Ran ours for 25 hours(mostly wide open throttle) this season and we only used 1 tank of fuel. About 1 gallon an hour.
That's why if I was a big fisherman or used it more than half a dozen times a summer to just run out to a beach and hangout I would get a new etec.
Jman, That thing looks SCARY fast! There are some of those off shore racers around here with "BIG" multi V-8's in them, but very few of of ones like yours. , Thats sweet!
What a bass boat?? Go to. The lake near me this mourning and I bet there 35 of them out there!! Maybe 3 x that if there is a tourney.
60's are pretty mellow. Most of the 150 class bass boats are in the 50-70 MPH range. 250hp where it really gets fun. . We test drove a 20' Ranger with a 250HP Merc and scared the crap outta me. 80 on gps and a handful on choppy water. But I couldn't touch one of those on my salary. The 70G price tag was even more scary! :gulp:
