I kept fast forwarding and the "fire" wasn't much better 40 minutes in than it was when he got started. Painful, just painful.
Good excitement when the fan caught fire though. Thank you to those that told me to go to the 35 minute mark though. Saved me.
Funny video, but what is sad is there are a lot of people out there who get into wood heating and go through pretty much the same thing every time they try to start a fire. Well, maybe they don't all burn out their little electric fans every time , but all the rest of the stuff he does, like taking 30 painful minutes to get a pitiful fire going, and setting wood on the stove to dry, etc...
I just learned that is only taked 45 minutes to get a fire going with wet wood, and yes if you don't ever cut you hair it can definitely grow down to your azz.
Now that he burned up the little fan and the house is full of smoke and ash, he could get some real fire power and bring in the leaf blower
Which is what I did (with some differences), but I didn't continue too long once I learned wet doesn't burn. If it takes me more than a minute or two to get medium sized splits burning well, I'm not a happy camper anymore.
Well I'll be darned..... I did watch most of the video and didn't even barf. The saw really started this off nicely. I wonder if anyone ever told him about dogs on a saw? How about that rocking motion? Nice. Then came the chemical lesson. Very nicely done professor. Actually I made some notes as I was watching but to cover all that would be ridiculous here but just a couple things I'd like to touch on. How about all that smoke that was coming out the front of the stove and right into the room? Can you imagine some lady seeing this after her and hubby started talking about getting into wood burning? Ah, a little incense into the home huh?! And the aluminum foil rather than gaskets is nice as well as the duct tape holding the OAK. That would dress up any living room nicely. Let's also not forget that the sawdust concentrates the heat and the air then turns into embers. Okay... And perhaps the best of all is how you stack the wood on the top of the stove. That helps the fire get started faster. Oh well, nuff said. Oh wait. It is on the Internet so it must be true!
It really is an unbelievable video. The amazing thing to me is in the comments he seems like a genuinely nice fella, and he's as polite as can be to folks who are being fairly harsh towards him, although he does defend his position. I actually found it a bit sad, I wish he were my neighbor so I could help him get some dry fuel and stay warm. He can't be in for a good winter.
On the flip side I am glad he is taking some heat in the comments. It shows people have some clue. You need a thick skin to post anything on youtube.
Around the eleven minute mark he was doing fine, and I was about to go burn some wet wood. Good thing I watched a little longer.
I went back and went straight to the fan fire. And I'm amazed at how hard he worked for such a pitiful fire.
Looked like pine to me.... He can't afford a cord of wood for $200? He would be warmer if he had spent the money from the saw on a cord of green wood in the spring and stacked it to dry over the summer. But I'm sure he knows what he is doing......
FF, please don't take this disrespectfully to you, but I just wasted 43 minutes of my life to that MORON, that guy needs to be BANNED from you tube for being an idiot and putting out stupid S#!T like that!
