I watched that new show Smokey Mountain Money, and started to wonder if I had any around my area.
I have my eyes peeled for it now that I know what to look for, watched some interesting youtube videos about sustaining and propagating it.

Thinking it might be a neat hobby to get into

If the prices on the show are true, some decent $$$$ to be made.

Completely legal to harvest your own property here.
    National forest lands are closed
cost is $10 for a seller's license - only if you are making money on it

Dad has been in a constant battle against the poachers. He pulls the berries and buries them then snaps the plant off at the base. We still get some stolen but it is getting less than it was.

We don't want to harvest and sell it, we just don't want people stealing it. When they come on our land they start getting close to the house and barn and then more stuff disappears.

that's a shame. I've found 4 plants so far and have not harvested any, berries are being replanted nearby.
I think of this more as a hobby less of a profit margin thing.
