At a chilly 63 in the house I have officially lit the stove, I think this is the early'ist I have done so.
Sometimes you have to take the chill out of the house. As long as you have plenty of wood, light that bad boy up. Stay warm and enjoy.. Enjoy your Sunday
I had a few small kindling fires in the middle of Sept., and that was early, but I didn't start doing "real" fires until about Oct. 3rd. So, we started early AND late this year. Weird.
Light it up! Earliest here was once or twice in Sept....... this fall has really had its ups and down in the temperature dept.
I had one last night with the frost coming but this morning I did a bad thing. Last I had looked it was supposed to be mid 50's today so I put more wood in about 8 a.m. well it went to almost 70 outside so needless to say we had the windows open. Still hung at almost 80º in the house.
I burnt some maple It was a quick hot fire, left the air run wide open , done by 10 am. I was a beautiful day here upper 60s . AND THE BROWNS WON !!!!!!!!!!
Oopsie. It's that time of year where Ma nature likes to just plain mess with us. Wait until she REALLY gets messin' around in Jan. and Feb.
Was going down to 32 last night so I decided to try out some sugar maple, man that stuff puts out some heat, got up 82 in the house on a a third of a load
Third burn this year. I tried to make it to Thurs when it's supposed to hit 70 again but it was 66 in here and I was looking at 65 or less in the AM, so I caved about an hour ago. Lit off the diesel-foil cat in about 25 minutes, 200 on the stove top and 250 on the cat probe. But it wasn't an instant light...took about a minute for it to glow after I closed the bypass. Ahhhh, blessed heat!
Dammit, I knew I was playing with fire; Now I'm hooked again. I just threw on 4 splits of Cherry, even though it was already 70 in here. I just couldn't help myself. Meters say 540 and 1500. Good thing it's barely hitting 60 here today and it's cloudy, breezy and damp. This afternoon, I'm going to my MIL's to finish re-gasketing the 91, then I'll fire that up, too. Heaven help me.
