    I'd make a cut or two, and then hit it with your grinder. That way your wheel doesn't get all the rust clogged in the pores of the wheel. Or sharpen first, but redress the wheel afterwards.

    My saws mostly live outside, I'm sure they get rust chains, but its never bothered me... Still cuts fine.

    I cut three loads of dirty hedge and was still throwing mulch. Stihl makes good chain.
