I have a harman xxv. i used pellets direct last year went with awf softies, only thing i didn't like is they stuck to the hopper, probably due to fines. think pellets direct was storing lots of pellets for early buys, sold a bunch and realized he might have oversold. i also burned chows and lacretes and some other brand i had never heard of during the shortage. i was on another forum, lots of familar names here. pelletsdirect thing kind of suprised me, he had stuff often during shortage last year, this is another reason i would never pre buy and let my product sit at someone's location. i went with royal fireside for the okie's as they are also about 3 miles from me in uxbridge. i have never burned them but am going on the okanagan reputation, i am pretty sure i won't be dissapointed.
RF is a goo outfit, good guys, seem to be on top of things as well........I dunno, sales are pretty brisk now....have to see what happens this weekend
Thanks for the info daffonce. Agree with LW, Royal Fireside is a good place. I got my pellets from them this year too, first time I bought from them and I am very pleased. This is the first year I will be burning okies as my primary fuel, really looking forward to it. I do think those Golds will burn nicely. My fingers are crossed because I have them too!
TT, you should try a few of the doug firs, once you get used to the golds....I think RF has them....see whatcha think
Went around today, saw lots of pellets in most of the regular places. Picked up some at walmart, MWP for $4.14 a bag. They loaded them in my truck. Now to off load them!
I have a ton of them - I got a ton each of the Golds, Platinums, and DFs this year. I burned 5 bags of the DFs last year. Believe me, I know what they are capable of
Anyone notice the heating oil trucks running around in the last few days pushing product to those on automatic delivery? I imagine the below chart has something to do with it.. They try to get rid of product that they have paid a higher price for before the prices overall come down. Wholesale prices for ULSD have dropped over 3% in the last month. Usually, retail prices are slower to come down in response to the market than they are to go up in lock step with commodity price rises. If nothing else, lower diesel prices will slightly reduce trucking costs (or increase profit margins for transportation companies) for product that has not already moved.
The price of home heating oil is still dropping. I paid $3.20/gal to have my tank topped off a couple weeks ago. My friend down the road had his topped off yesterday for $3.08/gal.
Yup.. Still coming down... Some areas are already below $3.00 a gallon. Price chart for comparison to above. Says 10/3 since as it is the weekly price chart.. October contract closes today.. Seems like the Braveheart strategy of Wait... Hold... Hold... Hold...Hold...... NOW!!! is working for heating oil this season.. Will see if it is the same for pellets..
Lower prices on oil here. I already put my 100 gallons in for the yesr. That will go for hot water. Pellet pricing, on the other hand, is stuck for now. I really think prices are regional for pellets. Last year, Lowes held out, this year HD is following. Walmart went from $207 to $219. All still much better than 2008 when prices were high and totally unpredictable. Lower oil cost should help keep a thumb on pellet prices. There is real cost, then there is "what the traffic will bare". Not unrealistic as that is the pricing method on most products.
TSC raised their price for pellets in the last week. They were $4.99/bag or $240/ton (w/$10 by the ton discount). As of yesterday they were $5.19/bag or $250/ton. HD and Lowes remain unchanged ($240/ton) for the time being.
Looks like Lowes has raised there price for pellets to $5.58 a bag and thats for the cheap crap.Home Depot is holding firm at $4.98
Wow, yes I just checked their site and I see the same thing. Greene Teams are up to $6.98 a bag too. Yikes!
All of a sudden every Home Depot around these parts is completely out of pellets. It could be a long cold winter for some folks.
huh....imagine that.....prices going up? Whoda thunk!? Oh, wait a minute, I warned you guys about this.......
