    Got a full load yesterday.
New area is farther in the road & farther off the road. No PU truck access close to the trees.
Takes me all day. Have to skid the logs a longer distance
but it also reduces the competition. Getting some nice birch :)

Headed out again today, getting a late start, so will be a smaller load.

That's a great pic. I'd put that in my living room! The cold stark beauty of the scenery, and the current and future warmth of the work in the foreground! That's art.

Dave if you get bored of hauling out wood like that, and that other site I told you about doesn't fulfill your needs, I can also hook you up with some wood right at the shop at my cost if you are cutting it.

Always enjoy your pics Dave. You want to have to pay to work in a place like that

I've put a full day in before to get a nice load, sometimes it's just needed. In December you want even care that it took you that long.

Good job, Dave. In this game just keepin' at it is the way to the goal line. Each load big or small is another first down. Every picture of your stuffed wood sheds (miles and miles long it appears) tells us that you know how to score touchdowns. As always, great pictures!

Got up to 32°, the sun was out for a while, that made it feel warmer.
Today was cloudy & windy 30°, trail stayed firm, (no 1/4" of muck like yesterday)

    Thanks Nate
I actually look forward to Oct & wood cutting .
I got nervous when the old area was all but picked clean of birch.
The new area is a lot tougher access so I'm picking only nice birch.
Only a little sign of someone else being in there , I saw 5 stumps.
Virgin timber, so I'm being a wood snob. LOL
"Kid in a candy store" type feeling . :)
Got one today that was almost to big to skid the base log, 6' .

I have fun, slow & easy.

I need to swing by & look your operation over, give me some ideas.
Sounds like you are really busy, That's a good thing ? ? right ?

    Thanks again
I'll hold that card as an "Ace in the hole" if I get in a bind & need wood.

Got a late start today , only managed to get 4 trees.

Little over 1/2 a load but one was huge & took me a while to skid it to the truck.
Base was a little hollow, but one heavy SOB.
a 4 round log at the base , 68" was all I could get out on one trip.
Then bucking & all I could do to roll it up on the trailer. That one tree took a while.
Won't let my eyes beat me up like that again :)

Takes a little time to get a trail around ,frozen ground really helps.
Lots of down logs, rotten & semi rotten birch & some decent dry dead spruce.
Some huge green spruce in there too, but I'm being a "birch snob" .

Forecast for rain tomorrow, ( & week end) need a break anyway.

pic of the tree size I will focus on, while I still have the area to myself.
    Tall , solid & few limbs :)
