My wife took this picture and told me about how the fall colors looked so pretty this year. Anyone recognize the focal point of the picture?

Poison ivy? I'm pretty sure I see "leaves of three".

It's the reddest foliage around here now.

Exactly. I've even seen some that has turned really yellow. I was out and about some yesterday and the colors are starting to come in pretty nice.

Yep, poison oak. Turns very red down here. We have a few trees and vines turning because of drought.

Thank you; it’s a work in progress. I really needed to get this riprap in for drainage before winter gets here. For 6 years now I’ve been dealing with water and ice building up at this low spot in my driveway. I was able to get the edging in this afternoon, then brought in a bunch of sod from my front yard, which was left over from when I expanded my parking area earlier this week. It’s been a busy few weeks…

    So that's drainage/erosion control?
Looks great, whatever you intend it for!

Thanks. Yeah it’s just for drainage. The water always pooled up over there, which is where my wife parks. I’ve only got about $90 invested into this. A big roll of geotextile fabric, 20 feet of edging, a bag of pea gravel, and a bag of pond stone. All the rest of the larger rocks I scrounged for free over the course of a few weeks.

That's funny. I went and googled it and saw articles from yesterday explaining the once in a decade event. I really had no prior idea. I was out at 6:30 this morning walking the dog, happened to look up at the moon and saw a bright object next to it, with no visible stars in the sky. Thought it was strange so I took a picture.

On the news the other day, they showed a picture with Jupiter low and to the left of the moon. Another picture an hour later, Jupiter was then high and to the right.

I had no idea it was a decade long in occurring. You had good timing!

This makes it the second strange occurrence for me this week. I was out collecting rocks the other day when I found a couple large pieces of quartz sticking out of the ground. I got them out, but the quartz rocks didn't stop coming out of the ground. There was a huge deposit of them, that I couldn't find the end of. The thought occurred to me I was looking at an old native American cairn, so I emailed an archeologist at the state of Connecticut about it. He got back to me today and based on what I told him, I was right. He's going to add the information to his database for future reference (I got the impression it was going to be like the scene from the end of Indiana Jones ......*TOP MEN*...... :picard:) But at least my suspicions were confirmed. I wonder what the third thing is going to be this week? :nerd:
