MS 241 hesitation

My 241 is experiencing what I can only describe as a hesitation out of the cut. It idles fine, then when I hit the throttle it sits at 10800-11000 RPM for a second or two and then seems to realize it has more to give and kicks up to the rev limiter at 14000. If you go quickly from cut to cut it doesn't repeat this but if you let it idle for a little while it does it again. I don't remember this happening before.

I did the 60 seconds at cold idle recalibration, but it is still doing it. Does the recalibration reset the saw back to initial factory programming? If not how do you do that?

 

You need to tell the computer to turn the L screw in a hair.

 

I was talking to him the other day. It is the only one they have sold. Warranty is up, the saw was bought by my business so only 90 days.

I have been reading around and I can't find a way to delete the stored memory in the module. I don't think it is hardware. The saw has been idling a lot recently due to the nature of the work we are doing. Given that the saw sits at a specific rpm when the saw comes off idle I wonder if it isn't compensating for that. The saw is definitely burning off a good bit of lubricant at initial throttle up off idle to the point that I had decided to turn the saw off more often for the rest of this job.

I am going to see if the issue worsens and talk to my dealer.

 

Start with the basics. Filters, plug, compression etc. clean it and check for signs of an air leak. If it ain't right don't run it.

1) crank on choke/start and let idle there for 90sec shut off
2) recrank in run position and let idle 90 sec shut off
3) recrank and make 5 full loaded cuts

Well, it isn't the easy stuff. It took a turd within 10 mins. on thurs. and we broke out the 2245 I had brought just in case. Got into it yesterday and it looks like it needs a carb? Running so rich at this point it won't idle much less throttle up.

 

I'll give you $50 for it

I have read a number of threads with similar issue everyone's answer was recalibrate. Well recalibrate hasn't done anything in this case it didn't seem to help any of the OPs in the threads I read. But there was also no resolution post by the OPs in the threads I read.

 

The module on the carb is bad.

These things happen.

 

That means full carb replacement?

It means a trip to the dealer.......and some calls to HQ for them in most cases. These saws are so new that not many dealers will know what to do without help from their regional reps

 

Oh......and this is rare. No worries for the other M-Tronic owners that are out there.....sometimes things just happen.

 

I only had a 90 day commercial warranty which is out. Can I do this myself.
