Guess what happens when you type "I love removing standing deadwood from the forest" in Google

Man has been scrounging wood since fire was discovered. Some still abide by that!

 

Well the footprint of my house is 1248 square feet so I’ll say 1248 square feet. All the animals in the area seem to enjoy the lawn, flowers, shrubs, apple trees and hayfield for food more than the timbered forest. Without being an animal psychologist I’d have to assume they appreciate it.
The coyotes, while they’ll roam the open would probably prefer forests for hunting. They are not natural to Ct having first been seen here around 1950 so I’m not too concerned with their feelings.

 

The wood hoarding must prevail!

 

You do live in or near a town? Maybe a highway perhaps? Pavement, homes, businesses, warehouses, schools, etc., development in general. I was referring to how humans don't live WITH the land, we do more than any other species to change the land to suit our own needs which often makes it uninhabitable to many of the organisms who once called that area their homes.

 

You do drive on roads and use other buildings, buy food that was grown somewhere else, buy products who's components came from somewhere else, no? Your impact (mine as well) goes well beyond the little lot of land our living quarters are situated on.
