Same in NC oppressive heat and drought. Poplars have started shedding leaves and I’ve seen a bunch of White Oaks with sparse canopies.
Not necessarily but there is hurricane season You’re likely to have afternoon rains occasionally because of the humidity building up.
Just heed the evacuation warnings and get out early if tracking to your location. Make sure days ahead that you have full fuel tanks in the vehicles and a “go bag” of meds, clothes etc. for each of you to grab quickly if you do have to evacuate. The one thing you’ve not experienced is the flooding and storm surge associated with Hurricanes. Power can be out for days/weeks. Not trying to alarm you but to be prepared and vigilant..too many folks don’t heed the warnings and end up trapped with no electricity, no water, groceries and no way to get out. Do a little research and have a plan. Hotels and Motels will fill up quickly along the evacuation routes too so another reason to get gone early.
Good points! Wildfire evacs were difficult. I didn't even think about flooding much less not sure if roofs here are built for hurricane winds like where I lived. I brought my freeze dried emergency food but no water back up now nor woodstove to cook on And I'm best approached only after coffee. We did pack a generator though it must still be burried in the isle of boxes in the garage...hopefully T.Jeff Veal said we could use his camper if it's available.
