At least those were HD! I priced out "mid range" quality tires (17") for the wife's minivan and the set was over $800, supposedly on sale/rebate! I was thinking dang we used to buy 10 ply 1 ton tires for a lot less then that!!
Sorta, but it had a piece of plywood zip tied over it from when I was using the truck as a chip truck with my chipper
When we got the F250, it needed tires. Jan '24, we bought a set. Cooper Rugged Trex. LT 275/70R/18 10 ply. $290, $30 m&b each. General ATX were $285. Church member works for a big tire distributor.
I delivered this morning and I’m delivering tomorrow morning. There’s been 2 calls and a text inquiring. Another guy wanted a delivery tomorrow + tree assessment. I put him off to the 11th, because I need to cut and split tomorrow. I have never had this much business and interest before Halloween. Was hoping for a slower year. Could it be folks are preparing ahead of time? There is some 100’s in the forecast for next week.
Fuel prices look like they will be quite high this year. I'm sure that's a factor. Lots of wood deliveries have been going by my house since spring. More than usual.
Our power company owns the NG company so they will be dry humping folks two ways a month. Duke energy got a 14.6% rate increase approved. That’s probably to supply data centers.
There’s definitely been a shift in the wind. I just booked a cord delivery for Saturday. Did I mention I typically don’t get any action until after Halloween. I’m already refilling this years empty pallets before I finished refilling last winter’s empty pallets. At least diesel is at a record high
Im still refilling last years. Id say half of my customers are already stocked. Just one who orders 4-5 half cord loads as needed i'm worrying about having enough. My Winter sales maybe down as a result. I can deliver another half to a long time customer anytime I want plus the same with a BL customer. I lost three BL regulars last year and am not worried. Any barkless BL I score can get Also wanna empty four abutting racks so I can rebuild. On a slight slope and listing a little. Gravity seems to always win! Need to rebuild it in one connected pallet. Just built it in 2022. Always a work in progress. Ill just keep bringing in the wood like the "dedicated" hoarder i am. Make those Benjamins Jim and cut safe!
Earlier than usual firewood sales here too this year. Consumers energy got a rate increase approved this summer with rumors another is on the way. Our governor committed to clean energy dependent by 2040. Solar popping up everywhere, and data centers following suit. Someone’s paying for itWell said…..dry hunping!
I just checked out my local Craigslist ads to see what the usual suspects are selling firewood for. The prices haven't budged since last year, so no real panic has set in yet. I'm sure that come January-February the situation will change as supply dwindles. I'm happy to be done with the selling game altogether and burning all my hard work myself
I’m definitely not going to have the CL randos calling me this year. I have been splitting my Hickory score and it is making some sweet stove ready splits. Most of it is perforated from borer’s. I don’t know if that contributed to making it lighter and drier, but dang it feels like there’s 0 moisture in it, and it’s not punky.
That's like a unicorn score there. I've only gotten hickory like that once before, same as yours full of bug activity but somehow it was dry all the way through. I think you've got the right idea staying away from the CL crowd. Much better to have some regulars and potential new customers by word of mouth.
