Ever been driving along and think 'Did I see what I think I saw?' Happened to me while out on the motorbike a while back. Yes, I turned around to and went back to confirm.

Best I could tell it was a little piece of sticker material. I have no doubt that the local Amish kids were being ornary. Haven't heard of them getting in trouble for tomatoing cars lately. They used to love to do that.

Totally didn't notice that at first until I saw your post. I was thinking...surely he has seen an Amish sign before.

The subtlety of that makes it even more funny. That and my immaturity...

 

I'm the one who paused a perfectly good motorcycle ride to get a pic! No way could I not document that. Showing someone what I seent rather than telling them is crucial in these type of circumstances. To me, this type of 'prank' is a spice of life. Gets a laugh, nobody hurt in any way cept maybe some 'sensibilities'.

I guess this would be the Amish version of truck nutz?

 

They all have those too...well, the ones (many) that jump the fence, and get 'em a Dodge 3500 with a huge pipe up through the bed...so you can roll coal passing the EV's...
I was looking for the pic that I've seen before of a buggy with truck nutz hanging...couldn't find it...found these though!

 

A visit to Udvar museum this past Saturday. Viewing the SR never gets old.

Absolutely.

 

My favorite fighter aesthetic wise. Gone too soon to make way for the stealthy stuff. Not quite the marvel that an SR is, but still an engineering masterpiece. The wing box alone makes it special among some standout fighters.

 

Its long range radar/missle tracking was very impressive. If I remember right, that Phoenix system could track 25 targets at once(?) and could fire them at a 100mile range. Had to google it but they entered service in 1969 and one country still uses them.

 

And that was designed back when really smart (brilliant!) people had to figure it out, not just have a theory, and then tell a computer to sort out the details...

 

Entire plane was made around the Phoenix missiles. The big 'tunnel' underneath is there explicitly for them. With the missiles came super advanced radar. Moveable wings allowed takeoff /landing on carriers and also Mach 2.5 +. Also...All Pilot planes. No fly by wire.



I find them to be of the perfect shape and size for lookin.



There are no bad angles to view it from.

Agree. The 18 is my all time favorite. I used to be very big into building models and I remember the 14 could sweep the wings. I still have some of that stuff in the basement. I’ll have to dig it out and share. I think the only complete one left is a Bone.

 

The SR was slide rule era. Blows my mind..

 

IIRC the Hornet can carry A LOT of ordinance. A true multi role aircraft. I still have a Skystryker stashed away in my piles of life. Also a Night Raven, with drone. Most of my glue sniffing was done working on ships (Navy dad). I guess I did some planes as well for the carriers although they were quite small and hard to paint.

 

Somewhat controversial....computer in my pocket is magnitudes above what they had onboard Saturn 5.

 

I recall going through the space museum at Kennedy space center back in the mid 90's...they said even back then that the average car had multiple times more computing power than their whole program back then!
