That is weird. Most of the birds, as either female or juvenile have some sort of stripping/pattern on them.

I think you are right with female cowbird.

Do you see them often? Rather common to see around here with all the wooded areas.

 

Now and then. Not rare around here.

Almost looks like a vulture! I've seen one like than here. Also have seen blue Jays like that.
