Came across this big mulberry log in the pile today. Was 22 feet long and 25” diameter on the butt and and 17” on the skinny end. I don’t see many mulberry trunks this large and straight. Had to cut in half to pick it up.
Thats a biggun for MB. Rare to see them that big or that straight IME. Id be rather giddy to find that in my log pile! Will that be put aside for personal use? I know how much you love it in your fireplace
We're the same help, but not as good as we used to be...... I don't think getting has anything to do with it... Miz Carol and I both can't take the heat like we could several years ago. Even the big 42" wasn't helping Wednesday afternoon...
I got that pile cut up a couple of days ago but just got around to posting a picture. I have since moved to working on mixed hardwood logs and hope to process all of these logs by the end of the week. Some came off the log truck but most of it is tree service wood.
The mixed hardwood pile is all cut up. I hit it hard the last few days and I don’t think there was a s much there as I thought. Made good progress on the mixed hardwood split pile. Will be back cutting oak tomorrow I suppose.
Kickin azz there Joe. If that mulberry is going into the hardwood mix pile can I have it? what percentage of your sales are oak vs hardwood mix vs specialty woods ie cherry, locust etc?
This is the next pile of logs I’m going to start working on tomorrow. In a perfect world, I will have this cut by the end of August. It’s a lofty goal so only time will tell.
Yep, that's a lofty goal, but we think you can git'ter done, especially if you have favorable weather
Late June and early July was hot around here. Multiple days 100+, a bunch more in the 90’s and humid. For the last 4 weeks or so though it’s been nice with mostly mid 80’s. Starting today the heat and humidity ramp back up for at least the next week. Real feels will be 100-105 on the regular.
Guess they were a little off. I worked from 7:30-3:30 with a 2 hour break 11-1 as I had to run kids around. It got cutoff but dew point is 81 which is rare for us here in South Jersey.
