It's getting to be about that time of the year again where the short sleeve work shirts don't cut it anymore. Where do you guys get your flannel work shirts? I'm just looking for a few to wear as under-layers under my carhartt jacket when it's cold and work in when it's just chilly

Found some at Walmart for 9 bucks, may just load up on those (quantity over quality eh  )

I have a nice fleece lined ll bean flannel but they're mighty expensive these days

Unless I am at work or on a date, I wear guys clothes because they last longer, fit better, and are cheaper. I mainly go to the thrift stores. After that I wait for a major sale at either the mall or outlet stores. Also try the discount stores like Ross and TJ Maxx. You can get some very cheap mens shirts on sale once the Christmas sales kick in.

All my work stuff comes from Duluth Trading. Double faced Fire Hose Logger pants not to be beat. Got a few pairs in excess of 3 yo and still serviceable.

Been buyin their products for several years. Even down to their work socks and underware and up to their work coats and outer wear, all first rate.

Just a little update. I picked up a couple of the walmart shirts to try out. They are actually surprisingly good quality. Fit is good, construction is good, flannel is a good thickness. We'll see how they stand up to wood processing :axe::thumbs:

Best part....just over 20 bucks for 2 shirts

Sam's Club up this way has Eddie Bauer flannel shirts for about $16.50. Not a bad deal. I also try to find decent flannels at the local Goodwill stores. It's hit or miss and you have to go often. if I really want to, I will splurge once in awhile and order a flannel shirt from LL Bean.

Yes. Eddie Bauer is primarily a clothier, although I don't often buy their product at retail price. I never thought about it but I guess eddie Bauer must be a regional New England/northeast thing if you're in AK and never heard of them. Have you heard of LL Bean? They are another large outdoor clothing and supply store headquartered in Maine. Another big one is Eastern Mountain Sports but they are overpriced.

Retail is for suckers regardless of where you live though. Am I right or am I right?

Really!! You cant be serious? There like LL bean or Patagonia. There a clothing company that has actually expanded to home stuff and must pay ford to use their fabric or something on the seats of the trucks to call it the Eddie baugher edition. Think that started like 29 years ago..don't think they do it anymore do they?

Problem with a lot of Walmart clothes is if your tall there really short in the body and shrink even more. I can't get one to tuck in and if I bend over the shirt is half way up my back!!

Their sweatshirts at Walmart are the same way lift my arms and the sleeves go half way up my forearms and it lifts the sweatshirt up and exposes my stomach. Or if I bend over its half way up my back. Really cold when working g in winter. Some are so short they don't even hang to my belt hardly!! I am buying XL maybe I need XXL? But then there to baggy. I need to see if they have a tall size. I am 6'2" and 205 pounds ish

Usually the Same Place I buy Cashmere or wool shirts/base layers.

Salvation Army/Goodwill or some other thrift shop. You can find a ton of stuff in great shape as long as you aren't too picky about color, and are willing to stop by a few times over a couple of weeks. You never know what they will have and cant rush these things, Kinda like seasoning wood outdoors. I run in the woods with a group of friends, downhill ski, cross country ski, snowshoe, hike and camp, wool is the best for low stink, and keeping warm even when wet. If I spend $3.99 on a cashmere base layer from Sal's or GW I can wear it for a season and not be too concerned with it if I tear it or get something on it. If I am buying a Patagonia Cashmere for $90-$125 it needs to last a lifetime, and I better not tear it, or spill something on it to equal the value I get from my Swap Meet Louie

I don't think all my clothes added up would equal a cost of $125.

$10 Walmart jeans and free or 5 for $5 t shirts.
