So you told it 600 miles a day and 3 days but it did it's own thing.... Is adjust from mountain air really a thing? I would think once adjusted to mountain air, coming down would/could be refreshing? I've never been much more than 3k feet. Edit: I see the 3 days was it's deciding at first and then it contradicted itself.
Having driven it several times you will have higher speed limits and less traffic west of Mississippi River than east of it.. so push harder through Nebraska
That is a very reasonable route. I don’t see where AI adjusts for highway construction, traffic congestion though. I’m sure you’re aware of this but all of the major metro areas you encounter have the potential to slow you down considerably dependent on what time of day you’re there. While Asheville isn’t a large metro area the traffic there can be heavy. It’s where I40 and I26 intersect. This is beach and tourist season so expect I26 to be potentially busy especially if you’re there on weekend or days either side of it. Good travels and keep us posted. PS: Using the app “Waze” while underway will alert you real-time to highway or accident delays and provide alternative route. PPS: Hampton Inn locations usually have pet friendly rooms and there’s lots of them. We always tried to stay in between or outside of major metropolitan areas to avoid the traffic and it’s usually quieter!
I don't think going down is an issue, just up. I have high hopes I can breath better near sea level, humidity is the wild card. I was trying to limit driving to less than 10 hours a day. 24 hours of driving, or ~1850 miles to cover.

I have been driving tractor trailer for 38 years, but I have been a regional driver, OR, WA, ID, CA, MT, UT, NV and a little BC and AB in Canuckistan. I have done a little PV in WY, TX, CO, AZ, IL, and MO, but nothing that is really going to be much help with particular information For Me, 600 miles a day is nothing, but for some, it’s a challenge. All I can say is Don’t be afraid or embarrassed if you have had enough, and haven’t made your daily “Goal”, better to get there, when you get there, rather than not at all, or for a Closed Casket Funeral
Maybe JimBear can chime in. I know traffic around Nashville can be horrible, well, at least to me. Never been to the other really biggest cities.
wildwest I haven’t read everything so please forgive me if I ask a dumb question or repeat something. First off, I was looking for a new phone plan & our zip code wasn’t a valid zip code ( we don’t exist) so don’t go feeling all special & stuff about Wyoming not being recognized. Lol I always use Mapquest or the map feature on my Iphone. I never use google maps or AI. Trucker path is also or used to be a decent app. You are driving a u-haul or pulling a trailer ? I always roughly figure mpg to establish stop points & overnights. Keep in mind your bladder gauge & fuel gauge don’t always sync up, every stop kills travel time so plan accordingly on your time schedule. I would think Omaha/Lincoln area would be better than Grand Island and an easy drive. I always try to travel on HWY 36 east out of Saint Joseph, MO over to Hannibal when crossing Missouri. This is all 4 lane divided highway from west to east, good road, you bypass Kansas City, most of I-70 & have less traffic with plenty of available stops along the way. Once to Hannibal ( birth place of Mark Twain ) you just hit Hwy 61 south to St. Louis, all 4 lane divided highway with plenty of available stops. I-70 traffic is crazy but definitely from Columbia, MO on east will be at best a chit show. There will a slight reprieve across a short stretch of Illinois on I-64 & I-57 unless of course Illinois has the usual road construction going on with 2 lane traffic & 55mph speed limit. I always stop at Cadiz, KY since it’s over half way for us & we don’t haul pets or kids ; well my wife doesn’t travel well & is often times like hauling a 5 y/o or a rambunctious dog. In my opinion Saint Louis & Nashville are best driven thru between midnight & 4:00am but you have to do what you have to to get to your destination. Otherwise shoot for 10:00am - 2:00pm & never overnight stops. I cannot speak to the rest of your route after Nashville area as I have not been that way before, we veer off & head to Chattanooga/Atlanta. You will also be hitting another time change in eastern Tennessee so keep that in mind as well.
wildwest Also keep in mind that Illinois has a real problem with conceal carry/hand guns so keep those handguns well hidden, just one “concerned” citizen or over zealous law enforcement officer & your trip takes a very bad turn.
Also keep in mind that Illinois has the 2nd highest gas/fuel tax in the country so definitely fuel before leaving Missouri or wait until Kentucky.
WWW is driving us and pets in an 2003 Yukon. House stuff on moving truck by itself. Afraid those 2 sentences are me. Not rambunctious but I wilt, and have to constantly change my sitting positions and he's keen to me getting very uncomfortable since theres only a few different ways to rest joints in a car seat. Will buy newspapers at different stops for crossword puzzles.
