What's up today (bullchiting) thread.

Took a half day today and left the truck and boat hooked together for a third day in row on the lake today. I rode my motorcycle into work today with my 4 hrs in I was on the way home at 10:45 am. It got really hot out, but once I got home, and then got the boat out on a different lake today and we had friends join us. Plenty of people were on the lake today as well.

 

To someone specifically or in general ?

 

People never learn...

Tree trimming was a success. W/ the new restrictions, this is all I can show. I cropped 5 times.


My son was fully extended in the 45’er and said there was at least another 15-20’ of tree. Got what was leaning towards our house so my stress wil go down when big storms come. One big limb looked like this so I got some justification.

 

What did the trunk look like there?

 

We didn’t completely remove it. It’s massive. Don’t wanna loose the shade but some limbs were leaning/growing close to the house. If I didn’t have to crop so much out, you’d see it fully. It was a safety issue at this point.

 

The thermometer says it's only 89 but it feels a lot hotter than that. Probably because there is ZERO breeze whatsoever...not even the leaves in the tree tops are fluttering.

Hoping to spend some time killing foam in the back yard tonight with the bow. Only 78 days until deer season.

 

The Canadian wildfires have had an impact out here to say the least. Sky looks apocalyptic, the air quality is poor for sensitive groups.
Temps are near 90 so I wasn't too keen to be outside much today as it is.

Took my daughter to Applebees today for lunch. Hopefully going to get on the woodpile tomorrow morning.

 

It would be nice if Canada even acted like it cared.

 

Does anyone remember Canada wildfires polluting our air 45 years ago?

Of course, I lived in Pittsburgh and the Steel Mills may have blocked the air from up North!

 

They used to do forestry maintenance...didn't have major fires every summer back then...

 

We had a quick, intense storm go thru someitme during the night of 7/14-7/15. I'm not sure when it hit as I was dead tired and slept like a log (too much traveling for the last week).

I looked off my porch and saw that a tree that had previously broken, but was hung up securely in the crotch of another tree, had come down. Here is a before picture:




When I went out into the yard, I realized that it had broken stuff. Nothing major, especially considering there were road closures and roof damage from falling trees/big limbs all over in town and the surrounding area (just in an isolated area in the Monadnock region).

This is what I could find at first.




I had to regroup and look from different angles before I could find the main portion



Just taking the picture a couple of feet over from my angle for the original angle of the chairs I found the bulk of the limb. It is leaning so casually that it just seems to be another tree growing there - LOL



Yeah, the base of that part is stuck in the ground, and it's height is 25-30'. There is still a good 35-40' of main trunk left standing (what was below the original breakage). I'm not sure it is worth having the tree guy take it down. Already had him scheduled to do some work in August or September, which included that tree. But, I am thinking to leave that one for the woodpeckers and critters. And, I have another tree to replace it with since this crack wasn't there before and it goes almost all the way around. You know it is pretty good since I noticed it from the back porch yesterday afternoon while I was just casually looking in that direction
