Has anyone here gone and seen Big Boy 4014 ? It's stopping in Leetsdale tomorrow afternoon. Only about 15 minutes from home. Then spending the night at the Norfolk Southern yard 2 miles from the house. Can't wait to see this piece of American History.

I would like to see it but have to be satisfied with videos. I had thought about going to Indiana or Ohio to see it but from what I was told the crowds were huge so one couldn't get close. I'll be satisfied with the big one that runs through close to us. It stops in a town 10 miles from us.

One of the stops not too far from me was all over the news.

The “casualty” wasn’t deaths, just used to get proper ems action I believe.

My son is doing the work in it. I’m skeered chitless up there beyond about 35’. :( He uses them for his job and sent me pics up in a hundred footer if I recall.

It takes some getting used to, especially when horsing on a big bolt, or something that takes some effort/body language...like a 3' long wrench on 1.5" diameter bolts...that was in a maxed out 125' machine...about 2' of sway when you ripped on that wrench...I was glad to be done/down after that one! (We were replacing a section of 10' diameter ductwork feeding a steel mill bag house)
Y'all have a safe weekend over there! Stay hydrated...much cooler here, but humidity is still in the swamp range...I'm soaked in sweat just from splitting a few rounds on a splitter I bought to flip...gotta try it out a lil though, it's a DR kinetic.

Big Boy 4014 just rolled into the Conway Yards. We were up the road a few miles and it was amazing watching it come past. Unbelievable that this over 100 year old technology has crossed the entire United States and we can't get a water heater to last 10 years. Screenshot_20260711_194035_Gallery.jpg

I put a decent amount of e85 in my truck today. It was 1.30 less a gallon than 87 which was 3.49/gallon. Sure it gets 15-20% less mpg than e10, but at about 40% less a gallon, that's a win. Plus, my truck likes the e85 especially for towing my big boat. . Boat day today, and again tomorrow. Monday I have a half day and we'll be on the lake again

Today was a really nice day on the lake, tomorrow will be even nicer, maybe a little hotter and no wind. Screenshot_20260711-185942.png

Some folks know when to get out of the sun and heat. Thank God for air conditioning.

Helping a friend move to LV so have been on the road for a few days. Had some Penske problems which made the drive stretch to 5 days. All is good though. Pulled into LV yesterday afternoon to this

It's a dry heat though, so doesn't feel as bad as a bit ago when in NH was in upper 90s. At the same time, you don't feel the sweat since it evaporates so fast, so have to be extra mindful of making sure to hydrate.

It definitely got busier on the lake this afternoon. This was from the morning.

Washed and waxed Kathy's Charger last night. Turned out good but it needs to the clay bar treatment in the near future. Screenshot_20260713_055036_Gallery.jpg

So apparently I'm a "richard", as per my assistant.

    This may not end well.

Wear it with pride. Some get their feelings hurt too easily or are looking for a reason to get upset. Or you could always show them what a real a hole is.... :emb:

Oh, I'm handling it as properly as I can.

But I'll be happy to be at the other location tomorrow.
