Stihl lightweight bars?

I have the regular 20-inch Stihl Rollomatic ES Bar on my MS400C. Is there a "real noticeable" difference in that bar and a 20-inch Rollomatic ES Lightweight Bar? I've never held a saw with a lightweight bar. Is it worth spending $160± on?

I want to stick with a Stihl Bar, and I'd stay with another 20-inch bar, it's perfect for what I cut. If I could shed a little weight I wouldn't mind.

We have the same saw with Xtra Sausage and run the 25" ES LITE bar on it. Seems pretty light. Had always ran regular Stihl bars before. Plus, the light bar looks better than the new bar design

 

The thing to remember when talking about a regular bar vs light weight bar is you are only talking ounces run the regular bar until it’s no good then replace with the bar of choice

 

fwiw I don't have an easy time spending even $125 on a lightweight but I do own a couple. I bought a 24" because it is for sure noticeable. I recently bought a 60cc saw which I use 20" on. It didn't come with a bar so I found a deal on one of the older style Tsumi's for it (had always wanted a checkerboard). I doubt I would notice much weight difference with a standard on it. The further the weight hangs from the powerhead, the more advantage a lightweight offers, in my opinion. I don't (thankfully) have to carry any of them all day so ounces aren't a great big deal.

What does that "light" chainsaw bar weigh compared to others?

 

I personally do not run a lightweight bar on my 400 but do think a 20 inch on that saw is perfect. I might consider it when this one expires but the standard bar is doing it's job.

 

If you have a good scale, for comparison, the Stihl 20” ES Light weighs exactly 2 lbs. I won a Cannon Duralight 20 in a raffle. It’s 2 lb. 3 oz. So, I was recently doing a little checking.

Jason’s link shows 20” ES at 2lb. 13.5oz. Vs. 2 lbs, even for the LW bar

 

I came across this. If it's accurate, it's almost a pound.

 

I’m a fan of Stihls light bars. The first one I used was 36” and I fell in love. I have a 20” light on my xs400, 24” light on a 462 and 32” light on a 661. 10/10

 

What's a XS400?

Yeah, if there really is almost a pound difference, I'll more than likely get one.

Nope, been here since 2018. Other than basic bolt on stuff like dogs, full wrap bars, swapping out a cat muffler all our saws are stock. So, I don't pay much attention to modified saw threads/posts. Not at all against it, just not my thing.

Yep, 20 inches, 3/8, .050", 72 DL.

When I pick it up, I think I'm gonna grab a loop or two of 33RM for dirty wood. 33RS works good on most of the stuff we cut. Sometimes the logs can get a little dirty when its wet and muddy.

I used to think like this… then I learned saw could cut 30% faster depending on saw type port etc

I then thought I paid extra 130 for a light bar save a pound of weight

If I could cut 1 hours worth wood in 40 minutes that’s easier too

so I get the logic
