It is weird because there are some still having problems. But that probably means the problem is elsewhere.
for the last few days, it has been normal for me. Quick to load each page. Just had one request to confirm a like.
We did do a little upgrade, hoping that fixes it along with some coming changes. Bear with me......appreciate all of you, hope to see some of you in a few weeks.....
Thanks for all that you do! Like others here, this is my go to site every day for the great information and camaraderie between members.
There's a lot of great volunteers involved here, we love this place and it's people. I feel bad for the issues we've had, we are trying to make it better.
The site was really quick yesterday. Thanks! This morning it has slowed down again. Might be useful to look at the server logs and access history between, say, 0800 and 1200 UTC today.
It wouldn't let me post anything from 5am to just a few minutes ago. I wasn't here for about an hour of that time.
Agreed, its all jacked up now! Got the "failed to connect to host" message again...haven't seen that one for a few days...
So, I've not been active on the site for a while, I have my reasons. But I have noticed the issues when I have logged in. I'm gonna pizz of a few, and we'll let Moderating decide that, after all, that's what they're NOT paid for. So, there's been issues with the site. I completely agree. But I don't think some get what is involved in keeping the site available. I wrote the following offline.. The recent bickering about website issues is a prime example of the failure of socialism. A few people do the work, so that the majority can enjoy the life they desire (online in this instance). But when problems arise, the consumers of the benefit get angry with the providers because they are unhappy. I'm fairly certain that Scotty isn't swimming around in FHC funding. I know I've not paid my FHC dues in years. A lot of members want the swag shop, I do as well. But what happens if the site isn't secured good enough to keep the hackers out and keep our personal and financial information safe?? Does Scotty then face a lawsuit due to the site insecurity? Does he need that headache, considering he takes nothing but a financial loss bankrolling the site. It's been a VERY long time since I dealt with hosting companies, and the fees involved, but I doubt that they've been reduced. Seriously, I'm certain that most members here have given of their time and effort to others, it's that type of person that is drawn to contribute here. But can you honestly say you'd continue to give all that time and effort just to be criticized when things go a bit south? After reading some of the posts, I wouldn't blame Scotty if one day there's a 404 error, PAGE NOT FOUND. Appreciate what you have, or learn to live without it. No-one is being forced to come here. It's a choice. 1..be happy when things work 2..considerate when they don't 3.. not have your life inconvenienced by an inconsistent website. Your life, your choice.
It is unfortunate that some posts in this thread that do come across as bickering, complaining, and whining. I view this thread as more of a reporting tool. If a problem isn't known about then it can't be addressed. Yes, I agree with your comments. The tone of some posts are beyond simple reporting. Like patience, kindness is a virtue.
It's getting to the point of learning to live without...... consistency is key. (Edit: it's reminding me of my ex wife) I just wish it would go one way or the other. Good or bad. This back and forth is for the birds. Chaz I don't think most would mind paying dues if the site worked correctly. Obviously something needs to change but what. Somehow I got this to post...... Finally.......
I'd like to know how many times one is allowed to note a problem here before it's considered complaining? Or how long a problem should be present before "opening ones mouth". Maybe one should just never say anything and just move on? I'm sure that would generate a bunch of posts people will want to read.
