Spent the morning laying some brick for my firepit that i burn all the amazon boxes and stuff in. Looks good to me but I'm definitely not a bricklayer. 20260525_145437.jpg

Even more so is that it has degraded into a day to remember all deceased.

"No, people of America, Memorial Day's meaning is not of marking the life of all of your loved ones. It is for honoring the service and sacrifice of the fallen. Please remember that."

The local fire department had on their sign, "Have a safe and happy memorial day." :headbang::hair::picard:

My grandfather was a pilot before WWII and he signed up for the Army Air Corps the day after Pearl Harbor. He died in the war. My dad was only 5. He was always somber on Memorial Days. I think about that a lot.

Paw Paw tree. I have them pretty thick in places on my property. Only a few of them put out fruit. The fruit is like a citrus banana.

Kinda close.... Definitely similar looking but I'm not sure I've seen paw paw leaves 2 feet in length.

lukem here's the biggest paw paw leaf of the ones on this property. I've probably seen them double this size.

Yesterday, we began planting the garden. I re-tilled it for the 2nd time this spring with the tiller wildwest told us about. Still can't believe it was only around $150 after my discounts! So far, it has been starting and running just fine.

It is common for young trees to grow bigger leaf but soon they will go to more normal growth. I always think of sassafras as most of the young trees have super big leaf.

I saw a young tulip tree that the leaves had to be at least a foot in diameter.

Admittedly the first one is kinda young but the big trees get leaves similar size.
