Hi FHC- This may have been suggested before, I’m not sure. Thought of some things that may drive the need for outside-the-forum connectivity given the various continuity challenging circumstances, both over the past few years and of late. I’m sure there are large numbers of PM’s, regular GTG groups, etc that keep many members informed of happenings, but thought maybe I’d suggest something akin to a call/email chain like used to be in place when many of us were in grade school and beyond. If anyone would like to start a PM independent of some of the larger, group PM’s already established to share contact info, I say go for it- email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, FB/other social media addresses, should be considered for passing along both current status, but not limited to notifications of illness and/or passing, be it by spouse or family members. Many, many members have stopped contributing over the years… some for whatever reason, but also because several have simply passed on, and this is not known across the board. So please, share your thoughts and concise opinions on the idea, or just grab the bull by the horns and PM the daylights out of an extra-forum connection possibilities conversation!
Wow. Have you been sleeping well Eric? I think nothing extra here until we get this forum fixed. If doesn't get fixed soon it is certain to die. Very frustrating it is.
I think the prospect of FHC dying is why he's suggesting we get a pm started so we can get the contact info of those individuals we associate with here as a plan B. People like Walt and Adam because of their GTGs. Kevin because he's a prominent porter ect. Then we can have a group text with those people to stay up to date on these things.
It would be a real shame to let this forum continue to circle the drain. I know many members double, triple or even quadruple dip with other similar forums, but that's just not me. I've checked out a few other places and this one just fits. I hope things get sorted out but if not, I like the idea of a contingency plan.
Scotty Overkill was finally on a few minutes this afternoon and didn't even say hello. I've also noticed that most moderators are spending very little time here. Writing on the wall?
Sounds like Scotty will be in contact with some new IT help in the next day or two...so it seems like better days are coming!
This is sad... As for the mods, we are in the same boat as you are. It is fully in the hands of the top hats so we wait and chew on fingernails.
