Looks like nice sized logs, not too big to work with. Besides dealing with heat, the other way to mitigate is to limit the activity, like a little at a time. I normally don’t fire up my straight pipe Echo until after 0900 AM. You could cut some, later split, then pile when in the mood. I’ve got wood coming out of my ears now, mostly getting caught up. There have been plenty of trees down with storms, neighbors offering up trees. As usual, mixed types of wood. I’m almost done with a big ‘hardwood only’ pile of wood, don’t plan to touch it for years. It’s a hybrid type pile, mostly ‘beehive’ on the sides, traditional inside. I have it on pallets to keep it off the ground.
That seems so odd talking about waiting for the weather to break in the month of May. Oh well, we just ended a hot spell here too but not as hot as you folks further south.
Unless it gets shade I'd be waiting for it to break too. I ran the splitter in the shade on Monday which wasn't bad. I have another pile of rounds to split, but in the full sun. Im waiting. Just beware of turtles in the processing area!
Here it is May 21st, I made a fire in the woodstove. Yes, the temp trend is up, but cold now, 50. The house was down to the low 60’s. No sense limping along cool when I have a plethora of seasoned wood, 73 inside now.
