Slugs are best french fried. Crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside!Imagine a french fried slug on that fork! Best with a strong, dark beer....lots of it.
For both of us. First time pulling the tarp off a monster rat. For a moment I thought it was going to choose fight over flight. Fighting off a possum was not on my Saturday morning bingo card.
It’s not that I mind most critters being around, even non-poisonous snakes, but it’s those sudden surprises that get me! LOL
Tomorrow, I'll be uncovering a rack that's been covered for 5 yrs. It'll be cautious and at arm's length.
This guy gave a little hiss when I went to move him. Obviously "Bat to the bone". Tucked him in another side of the stack that won't be disturbed this year.
I heard something in the wood stack while I was getting the shop stove going. Quickly deployed a snap trap and success in seconds!
I didn't take any pictures, but we have delivered a couple totes the had the small guinea wasps hibernating in them. Thankfully it's been cold both times, so smashing them was easy and they didn't fly.
We have had a tomcat hanging around picking fights with ours cats. He sneaks into the shop when the door is open, usually when I have the bobcat out, and marks all over stuff. I have been trying to carry a gun while outsside in case I see him again. We were out with the rabbits to ight and I heard him on the other side of the house. Our outdoor cat was with us, so I knew it was him. I turned on my night scope and meowed a few times like an unknowing cat looking for a friend. I knew he couldn’t resist the bait and in about 5 seconds a pair of eyes appeared. I didn’t wait or miss. I don’t care how many mice he was catching, marking in my shop and in the hay/straw is a BIG mistake.
Yeah, intact male cats can make a real mess. Especially when they spray on anything metal. Found out one was “visiting” us a few years ago when my stand up metal tool box began to rust and the paint was falling off..He died from lead poisoning
Had a huge, feral Tom that kept spraying on our front door for heavens sake! One morning I saw him turn the corner of our deck and head for the door. I sneaked out the sliding glass door after loading my Beeman .22 cal. air rifle. As I peeked around the corner he had just finished spraying and was standing on the entry way looking over his shoulder at me with his tail still raised. I neutered him on the spot! Never saw him again.
I just came back in from shooting the second stray cat that was pizzin in my shop. He was behind a 5 gal pail and I could only see his tail end, so I aimed as far forward as I could and let er fly. I was using 22lr cci suppressor ammo. I heard a very loud POP and he went spinning out from under the little shed. He made a bee line for another shed and I poked another one in him as he crossed the driveway. Not sure where I hit on the second shot but it was another loud POP and he slowed down a lot. He went behind and wood pile and I didn’t see him after that. I thought I heard him tumbling around by another shed, but I’m not gonna check until I’m sure he’s dead because I don’t need to get tore up by a cat.
Shot a woodchuck today. It was sitting on top of one of my wood piles. It rolled down the side and didn’t move for at least 5 seconds so I didn’t shoot again. Then it wriggled into the pile and I couldn’t get to it. I’ll tear it apart with the bobcat tomorrow and see if I can get it out.
If that thing got on me I'd home alone it, no shame here............Spiders freak me out and those wolf spiders are FAST!!
Cool spider, Brad. They are distantly related to tarantulas and I can certainly believe it, looking at that picture!
