I don’t deliver much firewood this time of year but a guy messaged me saying his kids are asking when they can have s’mores again so he ordered a cord from me. I wasn’t expecting it to be this hot when I committed to delivering yesterday but it was either deliver or cut wood instead. Had to engage “ac mode” in my dump truck. Supposed to be a little hotter today, more of the same Wednesday and then the temps crash into the low 60’s come Thursday.
Those vent windows sure make a big difference...but I don't think anyone has installed them for over 25 years or so...of course almost all trucks come with AC since then too. Supposed to cool back down after today, at least around here... I welcome it! Those are some pricey s'mores...
I remember those tilt windows in my older trucks. Make a nice breeze. AC in my current truck even though its not that strong. Probably should recharge it, but I'm cheap and don't expect the truck to last much longer honestly. Good luck with the delivery. Stay cool and hydrated. Got a couple deliveries over the next two days myself. Gotta make the Jacksons!
It may need charged, or it It may just need the evap coil cleaned (common!) but the catch there is getting at it! Many people with older trucks just cut a hole in the heater box and then kinda glue/caulk things back up afterward...it works! The other trick that can make a big difference is to put a shut off valve inline on the heater core hose...many times the blend door does not close the heater core off properly and the AC is having to overcome that before it can bring the ambient cab temp down. On vehicle that have this issue, a simple inline valve install makes a HUGE difference!
We still burning here Note on those old-school vent windows which I love: Do not break! I went fishing with my uncle many years ago way up in the rockies (Nakusp area) and I locked the keys in his truck. He broke the little vent window thinking it would be cheaper to replace. NOPE! Much cheaper to take out the side window or even the rear window.
A little piece of wire(s) gets you into those vent windows in 30 seconds...bend one into a 90-180* hook shape, the other however you want it to be able to turn/open the latch, slide them past the vent widow seal, push release button with one, and turn latch with the other, bam, done! Did that many times years ago when customers locked keys in trucks at the truck dealership.
