I cut this red oak back in Jan '25. It was a blow over that looks like it had some carpenter ants in the bottom. Rest of the tree was all solid. I hand split some and had it piled up. Had to wait for after the winter when I had more storage space at the house. It is very muddy out at my friend Bob's property. Had to make two trips with his tractor to get the wood out. I still have another 2-3 truckloads to move. 24" bar on my Echo 590.
Thanks! It is a 1997 F350, last year for this body style. I have owned it since 2013. I cummins swapped it in 2017.
Nice you are finally getting it out of there. I've encountered oak like that. Messy yes, but easier on the back when loading! Easier to chunk down. Sweet truck too. Love me a hard working, wood haulin' Ford. Been driving F150's since 1988.
Brad, you got me beat. I had a 1986 f150 in 1990-1992. 4x2, 300-6 carb. 4 speed. It ran well but wasn't fun in Michigan winters. I swear we got more snow back then. I was surprised how dry some of those oak splits were. They didn't get much sun but have been sitting on top of that pile for 16 months. I will try to get the rest home soon. I'll split and stack it all together. Hopefully it will be ready for winter of 27/28.
