I have had a stash of cherry and a bit of Doug Fir stored under some Holly trees in a back corner of the wood yard. Now Holly trees are filthy trees to store anything under because they are constantly shedding leaves, twigs, and debris. Also the spot is against a fence so the area is somewhat damp and shady. Wood has been there about a year top covered but I decided to move it to the front of the big stack in the sun and wind. The full face is about a half cord+ so about a third of a cord cherry and the rest Doug Fir. This all will be moved to the wood shed this fall and be ready for burning the next fall. Kinda been procrastinating on this little project because I hate double handling stacked wood. If it had all been Fir I would have left it for the next 5 months but Cherry seems to go to seed a lot quicker. The camera angle is funny but just to reassure you, those outside pillars are plumb!
Not a fan of double handling wood myself, but with our small storage areas we do what's necessary. Nice job on the stack. Liking the sleepers underneath too.
The pile looks pretty darn symmetrical to me, Russ! Not an easy thing to do with all triangular pieces either. I hear you on the re-stacking and extra handling too. I've been doing the same in my yard this week, trying to consolidate and get things tidied up after offloading a lot of my better looking oak splits.
Nice stacking Russ but don't forget to fasten those bungies. You can tell the wood had been in a damp area.
