I fired up the stove this morning. It was 42 outside and 63 inside. The 6041 is chugging along.

Last year I didn't burn my first pellet until late October or early November. This year I'm saying screw it.

Cold and raining here. Getting chilly and its after October first! Sooooo?

Yep, I am ready for the test fire. Probably later today or early evening I'll give it a go. Still see some warm days ahead, But it won't be long now!!

I have some Curran Softies left from last year. I will burn them and be buying some more pretty soon. If I can find them. Unfortunately I made the mistake :mad:of buying some Green Supremes:headbang: last year. :emb:Still makes me cringe. I will be burning those in my wood gasification boiler a little at a time. I have about a 1/2 ton of those left.

My daughter came home for the weekend from college and I made one of her favorites....my chili....she took a bite and said "whoh, it's a little spicy" I said "yup, it's perfect." lol

Definitely some substance in the precipitation. On and off snow flakes, rain and ice pellets today. I'm just hoping the leaves are all off the trees before we get our first big snow. We had a decent snowstorm back in 96 or 97 a couple days before Halloween. The trees didn't hold up too well.

Supposed to get back in the 60s next week. Winter isn't here yet.

First burn yesterday. Had enough solar gain to hold out till nightfall, but had to fire it up, and it's been cruising on low all night. And so it begins...

Great day today...fired up the stove for the first time to knock off the chill this morning. That warmth sure did feel nice. :D

Lots of leaves starting to cover the trails I ride. It's getting hard to navigate around rocks and such. If I don't watch it I might bust my tail and end up in the woods! Beautiful day though but a bit windy.

All I see are frost advisories and even those aren't widespread in NY.

It has already been lower than that here.

Anyhow, yesterday we did 2 different kinds of ripe cucumber pickles, the cucumber vines are in the compost bins, today we did two different kinds of jams and there is a bowl of pear sauce cooling.

The last of the squash was harvested today, the vines are also in the compost bins, and there are 60 or so winter squash curing.

The chickens are enjoying the pole bean vines. The garden is really looking bare.
