I'd like to have a trailer like that! Build a little deck on top, maybe a camper??

Slow and steady wins the race.

Another hour or so and I'll call it a day.

    X2. Very quick.

Here they mostly used a pink ribbon folded up into a little square then stapled to the tree. I guess it depends on the tree service?

I think you're correct and it depends on the tree service. I've seen some use blue paint, some use green tape, and so on.

Years back Asplundh came through here BTTW with many crews cutting roadside. They were taking trees down a long her moms long driveway. Marked with the pink tape. I almost added tape to one big oak that wasn't marked that she wanted gone. Didnt want her to get in trouble.

Not a stick. All logs were loaded into that black grapple truck and taken away.

After a tank of fuel in my 445, and most of a tank in my 435, I myself ran out of gas. About 3hrs total and my back told me it was time to stop.

T.Jeff Veal - here's the distance I'm carrying the halves. Getting in my morning walk a little differently.

Better ground for more level stance whilst splitting.p to final size.

I was going to cut, halve, and move but decided to cut as much as I could today and split tomorrow. Makes for a quieter Sunday morning for those in the area.

It appears both are red oak. I thought one was a maple. Real thick sapwood on one of them.

Time for Alieve, a shower, and on with the rest of my day. Pretty sure a nap will overtake me.

    Nice work Mike!

Will you put a "keeping wood" sign up in case I'm in the area? :woodsign:

You have more wood down there than you know what to do with.

I gave it another 3hrs and the only thing that ran out of gas was me.

Heavy wood with the sap running. Not me, I try not to run. Squeezing it out with a wedge.

Just a few logs left, including a knotty piece.

Guessing that's 10ft long. So, maybe just over a rick.

Some metal stains from a flag pole mount. I knew it was there.

Time for a couple of ibuprofen 600mg.

Nice to have a source right in your own yard for firewood. Great pictures.

I don't think it's red maple. No ambrosia markings, unless they show up as the tree gets older /bigger. But, I'm guessing.

If I remember I'll get a pic of young sugar maple at the wood yard later.
