When he gassed it up for the first time, it took 3 pulls to bing once, then started on the 4th. Zero issues restarting hot/warm/cold. It helped that my son and I coached him on choke & fast idle proceedure. I made a few cuts with the saw Sunday. It runs great and feels butter smooth. Much more so than my 3 series Husky's. It came with .325/.050 20" b/c. Also has a rim sprocket. We've already talked about swapping him to 3/8 when the time comes. He went back to TSC and picked up 2 more loops of X-Cut for it. I showed him my 325 roller guide and he said he's going to order one to help him sharpen chain.

It’s classified as residential, so a homeowner saw.

Why move to 3/8? .325 works excellent on 50cc platforms.

Stihl .325 RSP is the best chain on the market… Period. End of story.

If I’m going to sharpen chain for him, I’d rather do 3/8. While ago I did a bunch of testing on the two. 3/8th was consistently a tick quicker, 325 a bit smoother. Personal preference.

I about chit when he told me how much he paid per loop. :jaw: Over $30. How much is a loop of rsp @ 80 drivers?

That eBay seller has or had a pretty healthy multi chain discount. I think I paid 25ish per loop for 6 loops last year from him. So his prices have gone up like everything else. I’ve ordered from him several times over the past couple years. Great seller!

That was my guess. He'll be better off struggling and learning to do it himself, but you know that. Also, ground chains for a greenhorn is recipe for being spoilt. I find that the 325 is much less grabby in small limbs and brush, where my 50s are used a lot. All things being equal a smaller kerf will be faster.

I was happy to hear him mention getting a roller guide. I really don’t want to hand file chains but if he needs it, I will. The ones he got are semi and I only have a square grinder.

Usually when I find these deals and I am gloating to myself on the way home a tire blows on the trailer....
