    It meant somethin g different back then. Other towns had (equally) bizarre/odd names nearby and they have changed them. Even New York was originally New Amsterdam. And the gay in Gay Head, Ma meant something entirely different 250 years ago. (colorful cliffs of the bluffs at the western end of the island).
