This was a long leaf pine we cut for a guy about a month ago. Haven't seen a fat wood center like that in a long time 20260105_154843.jpg 20260105_154915.jpg

Haha surprised someone noticed what that was. When I bring up Murray Rothbard to people they usually have no idea what I'm talking about.

I used to have a similar sticker on my truck. Then it became a "vote harder" sticker with a clown face, and now I'm completely checked out lol

Did a good bit of splitting today. Had to go build a new wood "shed" too. Well ahead of next year and possibly 2 years out. PXL_20260214_194233755.jpg

Had some ice storm cleaneup to do last weekend and figured it was time to drop this dead-standing hickory tree. I think it's mockernut but I'm not great at telling all the smooth bark hickories apart. The ice storm fatality was a sugar maple. I hate to lose them but this is top shelf wood.

Nice job, could be mockernut, but upper bark looks like bitternut.
Mockernut is usually very stringy when split

Life comes at ya fast….the Wrangler turned into a Gladiator, and I stuffed it full of blizzard fell locust when things calmed down. Had to saw my way out of my road in the middle of the storm to get work, glad I had grabbed my MS170 on my way out the door.

My friend Dan was over yesterday so we spilt and stacked the load of oak I got a few weekends ago. I didn't want to do any extra handling so it went from the trailer to the splitter then wheel barrow to stack. If there was a little bit more room in my yard I could have got the trailer lined up better and skipped the wheelbarrow. We did some of it horizontal and some vertical. It was in the 70's in the afternoon and then I saw a few snowflakes this morning. Silly spring weather. On to the photos ... IMG_6199.jpeg IMG_6203.jpeg IMG_6212.jpeg IMG_6210.jpeg

Been either snow covered or wet here from about November of last year till now. Was finally able to get down in my field to cut up a standing dead ash that died about 3 years ago. I had cleaned the whole 2/3 of mile fencerow previously and left the standing dead for last. Been working those up and this was the last one Fencerow ended up being about 40 cord but a lot of it was smaller and stuff most have have burnt on piles. I can use it. LOL

This was last summer to give some context. Fencerow was out up to 60 foot and needed to be reclaimed. I piled the brush in a row in the field and cut stuff high. Then dug the stumps out and smoothed in sections.

The field goes to that tree line you see in the middle of this pic. I pushed brush and stumps into about 15 piles and burned it all once the crops were off.

Like I said, I cut a LOT of small stuff including the honeysuckle

This is that same section filled up. I didn't split anything I could lift.

The last tree today was 36 inches at the base. Starting to punk some but trunk was fine.

My surprise of the day was the fella that had a 60 foot ride down and decided not to ever exit. as I started sawing the hollow piece you see here I had a red mist flying till I realized what had happened. He was none to happy on the eviction. Huge boar raccoon checked out.

For the stuff I couldn't lift I got the splitter and chunked it to workable size. Nice to have this as I can work larger rounds by myself and not struggle with them. Just use the winch to drag and lift them in in.

Not a full load on this one and stacked out at just over 3/4 of a cord. First load was close to 1.5 cord On to the next!

Two loads of oak off a facebook score. Probably could’ve made one trip, but I stopped short of blowing out the Jeep’s suspension.
